You did it justice. That is one of the nicest Quicksilvers I've seen. And it seems like there isn't many of them around.
My hat's off to you guys who do those " My bike from BITD " builds.

That's just fantastic looking, I love those dramatic restorations... and this one is extra special because it's your old racer. Supercool...

Chrome and yellow...you don't see it very often but it looks great! Nice job on the restoration for sure. It was definitely worth the $$$ and the effort huh? Plus the satisfaction from rebuilding your childhood bike has got to feel pretty good too.
Nice works!
Awesome! BITD, I had one of these. Unfortunately it was stolen twice, but only returned once. I'm planning on a Quicksilver resto after my current project (Redline MX-II) ... and this is just the inspiration I need. Thanks.

Easy to see that it was a labor of love ... you must be delighted with the outcome.
Funny how a couple of pieces of metal, plastic and rubber can take on so much meaning in the form of a BMX bike.

Mar 8 2006, 05:17 PM
Race photo was from 1981.
ol'phart I know what you mean about the cranks and pedals but I couldnt go "Rolls Royce" on most of the bike and "hyundai" on couple of bits
Its basically a nice mix of how it was and a couple of bits that I couldnt afford BITD.
Thankyou for comments, I really appreciate it

that frame sure does look like a mongoose the whole thing.
Did Mongoose make the quicksilver frame?

Mar 8 2006, 08:33 PM
Well done Reece. Agree with you on the way to build it is with parts you had plus parts you wanted but couldn't afford back then.

No, Quicksilver was made by an Australian compnay called concept developments. Its pretty much the same as a goose apart from the gusset hole is flat.

Reece, I notice in your boyhood pic the fork isn't a TRX. Did you bend the orig fork? what was it?
Love the pads too - great stuff.
The Helium filled Quicksilvers came out after this model,

Geez Mark good spotting! Not long after that photo was taken those forks (mongoose) bent and were replaced with the TRX. The bike shop that built the bike didnt put a huge amount of thought into it (mongoose forks,RED torney brakes - had no gold at the time) but it got me through my bmx racing career
