jt89366
im sorry,i just figured out how to post pics and wanted some help,so if i offended you, sorry
Randy
Wow, you have two of them?

I'd walk back to the spot you found this bike, look back about 10 feet and you'll see the owner who obviously fell off.

It's a kids bike from the mid/late 80's.
TONE
oh im not offended........im just like that. LOL
if i offended you i apologize. im the rude guy here.

........post more pics man! Be like me! Go out of control now that you have the power to post pics!....whoooo hooooo!!!!!........I wish more people would post pics on here.......

Pics that is.
G-Flash
Will some one PM me a step by step on how to post pics on here so I too can get out of control?
Mike Welsh
G-Flash, skyway72: I understand how frustrating it can be with all this technology stuff. I will be happy to write some step by step instructions on how to do it. Hopefully later tonight I can do that for you and pm them to you. If not tonight, it will be very soon.

Ted Carl
I sent you an email.

There should be a permanant how to post pix thread here.
TONE

Are you guys serious?
HOSTING SERVICE TUTORIAL is posted RIGHT ON TOP OF THE MAIN FORUM PAGE. Click it, you know, with your little mouse thingy.....read it. It's really that simple, trust me.
Ted Carl
LOL....!

Too funny.

Never the less. We seem to witness an awful lot of "How do I post Pix?" questions. Somehow newbies aren't seeing it.

Maybe the newbies aren't relating a "Hosting Service", to "posting pix".

Personally, mine get hosted on "Image Shack".

There is a hosting service here on this site. (I have not tried that one yet, but it seems it works like a charm for people)

A guy can also use his own web space, if you own a website, and have web space.

Bottom line, is that they are hosted off site, and linked to on the threads.

....As for the seatpost in question....Looks like somebody panicked and pulled the ejection seat handles! Ops check good!....
Ken Pliska
That is a Mini Viper 16" from 1984. Exact same model I bought my then girlfriend's younger brother back in 1984.
grub
i would hate to of been the guy one that bike when that seat pole gave way!!
i'd say he was singing soprano for a while after!

as for posting photos
i have no probs using http://photobucket.com
cost nothing to join
i'm not sure of any limit of photos
it supplies full url, img and tag addresses
just highlight the url one then lift click and copy
paste it in add image
just make sure to delete the http: already there
otherwise it comes up twice and the link won't work
Mike Welsh
It's not as easy as just looking at that tutorial thing for some people. We take all the minor details for granted now because we've been doing it. Minor details like if your photo file is too big, photobucket will automatically make it to a size that you will probably not be satisfied with. You know? Stuff like that. A lot of people don't know what a jpeg or a gif file is. People ask for help for a reason man. Don't make fun of them just cause you already know how to do it. You didn't know how to do it when your mom popped you out did you? Sheesh! Cut the newbies some slack! Dorks.
Ted Carl
I agree with you Mike.

I emailed G-flash some tips on posting, and posted some pix for him. But somehow I still got slayed (my bad???), and sort of slayed again for suggesting that maybe there ought to be a permanant thread explaining how pics are posted.

We know how to post pix now, but I know I had a difficult time figuring out how to get it done when I first started posting them. I have not browsed this site for instructions recently, as I already know how to post them. But since we still see the questions coming in almost daily, I figured that maybe something that says "Click here, How to Post Pictures" might be a good idea.

FWIW, I just tried the links at the top of the page, if you click on those links, "Hosting Service tutorial", it asks for user ID #, and password. That is all it does. It doesn't tell you that you need to sign up to be able to post pix.

So we keep on hosting pix for people, and keep answering questions on how to do it, and reading "Testing 1 2 3 " threads....I don't mind doing it, but it makes me believe that there should be someting more clear to the newbies.....Heck, after Randy pointed it out, I went and clicked on it, ...It didn't really tell me (a pretend newbie) how to post pix, or why I would want to register for it.

A permanant "Step by step" thread, and/or a "Sandbox/Chalkboard" thread, for people to try to post pix on, that the webmaster could erase once in a while would be cool.

So...."There ought to be a permanant "how to post pix" thread here"..... I guess my observation stands. I wasn't slaying newbies by any means. Just pointing out that they seem to need more helpful "how to" resources.
Randy
Sorry for the harsh reply.

I, as much as anyone around here am constantly helping and posting photos for people, guys I know and guys I've never seen before....or since. I've even called guys on the phone to talk the extreamly unable through the process, I understand their problem, for I was once in the same spot.

Fact is, this site has had the tutorial atop of every page sans the actual topic page for years. People don't see it, people don't read it. Should it be larger, in hunter orange? I dunno, maybe.

You see this when you click on this link "VintageBMX.com Image & Web Hosting Service", not the "Hosting Service tutorial" as you state. The "VintageBMX.com Image & Web Hosting Service" is just that, a webspace to host your photos provided by this website, which I believe requires signing up and an annual fee.

The "Hosting Service tutorial" link which is directly below the VBMX service link shows you HOW TO POST photos, using the VBMX service or that of your choice, as I do. There are to many free image hosting sites to list, photobucket.com, sony's imagestation.com etc. The tutorial steps applies to any hosting service you choose to use.

When you click the Hosting Service Tutorial you go to a page where your choices are "Create a new account" or "How to use my account".

1. Click "How to use my account".

2. It's all right there folks, with simple photos telling you exactly what you need to do.

I use Imagestation.com for no other reason than I was using it before Rick set up the VBMX hosting service years ago. Imagestation, Photobucket and many others are totally free. Imagestation gives me like 11 billion gigamegers of space, I probably have 600 photos hosted on my page.

the problem i have with posting pics(or should i say had)is i dont like reading directions and i know everything abou everything so directions would just slow me down.sarcasticly speaking of course.
cmcaudio
good post for those of us who stilll need help. thank you
Shawn Sheely MN-1
It looks like a '84 mini viper to me.

Ted Carl: I couldn't agree more with "we need a permanent thread on how to post pics". Something that includes all the minor details that we take for granted. There are details that are second nature to us that some people have no clue how to do because maybe they don't use a computer every day like some of us. There's probably even some people that heard of vintagebmx.com and went out and bought their first computer just for this(hopefully) and so they are totally lost. Heck I don't know.

Randy: It's not ALL there man. I'm not trying to give you a hard time dude. There's a lot of details that are left out on the "How to use my account" link up there. For those of us that use computers a lot I suppose it is ALL there. But a lot of people need to know how to resize, or compress, their pictures so that they don't show up smaller, or 10 times bigger, than they want them to be on here. I don't know. I'm just saying. I'm trying to think back when I knew absolutely nothing about computers. I still think there's no such thing as a dumb question but that's just me. I just think there's too many details left out on that link Randy. Just giving my opinion man. I'm not trying to insult you or anyone else on here. I'm just trying to be helpful because I understand how frustrating these things can be. Heck, most of you guys with kids could probably have your kids show you how to do all this technical stuff. Welcome to the new millenium ladies and gentlemen.

Ain't that the truth!....My kid gets train simulators, and roller coaster simulators, and 10 minutes later he is creating a new cyber world with the editors....AT 9 years old!

The sizing of photos is the one I would love to see everyone be able to read about.

800x600 is the biggest it should be (IMO). Most monitors are set now so that would be a full page. Nothing like having 1264x1054 (whatever it is) resolution and having to scroll across the page because a 3200x2400 photo got posted in a thread.....

It's all good. I'll keep helping when I can, no matter...And keep scrolling when needed.

Trick of the day?....(You can hold the "Control" button and roll your "mouse wheel" to change your screen resolution/font size quickly when that happens, and change it back, just the same) Anybody know that trick already? LOL....We are old school dudes in a new school world.....

wow, that kick *** Ted....thanks
grub
when it comes to resizing photos
i found a free program called pixresizer
it can resize one at a time or a whole directory in one hit
i shrink down to 640x480 and they look fine on a 1024x768 screen
you've got to expect some lose of resolution going from 3.2mpix to 640x480
Bill
Guys,

I use this thing called google to get all my answers. I back up Randy on this one.

I could put an image/link at the top of every single page that was 1200 x1200 pixels or text that 48 pt font and in hunter ORANGE and some dope would ask where it is.

You don't want to know how many emails we get from people asking how to sign up for Rockford when the ad banner says CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

I'm not trying to be harsh, you know I go back on that, I am. People today seem to check common sense at the door when they get on the internet.

OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE. There is a wealth of information out there. If you look.

I was a laborer for twenty years, if I can figure this stuff out, then anyone can.

end of my rant.

Bill Curtain: LMAO......right on dude......I feel ya man.....I'm not really into astrology but I have been told that I am always trying to keep the peace because I am a Libra........I am guilty of not knowing where the "Jag DVD" thing "<-----over there stupid" was.....I felt really dumb after asking twice, at least, where it was. Believe it or not, I actually found the Rockford 2006 link all by myself....I'm so proud of myself....alright well I'll shut up now
Randy
When I google Bill Curtin I get this...

I should host a "lets post pictures" chat time
TONE
Bill is so dead on correct. I guess that might be why alot of people few me as a wise ***. I just get frustrated sometimes. I visit alot of other sites (non bmx) and I tend to dig around alot before asking any questions. Thats a good rule of thumb.
jt89366
you shouldnt get frustrated, just answer peoples questions if you can and if not then dont worry about it.
