Not really a restoration as such just bolting new parts onto my old race frame. Decided to go with a red/blue combo after getting the NOS red GT forks (which I couldn't bring myself to strip as the colour is so nice) so after a couple of attempts at getting the mix right I'm now happy with it. Lets see what you lot think right or wrong?

and heres some of it getting used in 1984 and 2004

Cheers

Maximums are too cool. I dig the bike but I'd try it with chrome rims myself. Did you have the original Maximum fork? I like the red GT, it's pretty much the same design, no? If I recall, GT made those bikes.

Thanks for the comments lads really appreciated.
Randy, No don't have the original Maximum forks anymore as they were bent BITD and got thrown away at that time. The GT forks are as close as you will get, same basic fork with slight drop out difference (as this Maximum, a 83, was made by GT). I did have it built with a lot more chrome / alloy parts but thought it look like something I would have ridden in 85/86 and I wanted to get it more back to 83 so when with more colour but here's a photo with the silver stuff on for comparison.

Cheers

Is the finish on the frame original. If so it looks pretty darn nice.
Are you wearing a team jersey in the current photo?

Hey Ray
How do you like your graphics on the frame they look pretty d*** good to me everytime I look at it, thanks again for suppling them
Yeh the frame finish is original, the frames always been somewhere warm and dry when it's been stored so it's lasted pretty well.
The factory shirt I got in 1983ish when I had a co-sponsor deal with the UK importers they were suppling me Gear Race wear at the time and they flowed me that shirt when I bought the F&F in 83. It never had anything to do with the factory but they must have figured it might give them some cheap exposure if I got my picture in a mag which I did in 84. I'll try and scan that in a post it sometime.
Here's a better shot of the shirt which I took after the bike won the survivour catagory at the UK big bash in August last year

Cheers

how dare you, i curse you a thousand times for your groundless accusation, skier.... me? surely not. actually a ski boarder/snow blader, muchos fun. always had more fun on snow than i ever did on a bike. was always gonna get back into snow sports at some time..... just a matter of time. been a skier since 1992, started snowblades/skiboards in 1997 (on a holiday to bulgaria with jay), sort of gave up about 4 years back... hope to get back in to it with a vengeance

Does anyone have a jersey that was made with the VAUGHN silk screen on the top corner? My mom made a couple of them with the wide mesh (like football jerseys). I do recall Lee Medlin had one made for him.
