Bars in the late 70's were how wide on the average? I know that bars got alot bigger in the 80's, 29 x 9, and bigger. I building my first old school ride, an MCS Spider. I won a NOS set of mcs bars. They are 25 x 7. I have a set of win v bars that are about the same size, that I think are pro.
So I was lookin for some ol skoolin from you guys.

25x7 sounds right for a 70's bike. For my 70's builds I use steel box bars, aluminum Race Inc. style bars or Redline V bars. Any other chrome chromoly straight bar just doesn't look right on 70's bikes.
Redline Proline might be an inch wider.

here's a pic of some 70s style bars. dorcy, mongoose ss,Redline microline, anlun, race inc.about 24" wide and about 8" tall, the dorcy a bit taller. and remember alot of 70s bikes had coaster brake so some bars don't fit hand brakes very well.
