Reporting a security breech to ebay is pointless & results in a breach of your own personal privacy & security.
My email address & ebay trading name & ???? were passed onto a 3rd party (read seperate marketing/data company) or as Ebay descibed them "an official partner" who then sent me an spam/email wanting to know how well my original complaint to ebay was handled & if I wanted to get off their list I would have to visit their site to unsubscribe from it.That was the straw that broke this camels back.
This kind of practice is considered "not cool" by the state & federal lawmakers in this country & I am about to set every state & federal authority who deals with consumer protection & privacy laws here , onto eBay (Australia) over the incident. Sparks will fly & I'll let the free legal dogs I have at my disposal maul them good & proper , a hefty virtual knee cappping will get delivered to them here.
As someone else suggested in the "sus Torker 4 sale thread" I believe that we (this community) would be better off policing the ebay market areas that we buy & sell in _ourselves_
Possiby in a seperate/designated area in the forum that is only viewable to registered members of VBMX.
Ebay's own "community" discussion forums have paid employee's with legitimate looking merchant profiles working in there as spin doctors 24/7 , if you have ever talked security matters or concerns with an ebay seller who has participated in these ebay forums , they will refer to these spin doctors as "cheerleaders" , there are probably other terms & other paid ppl sniffing around the ebay forums keeping an eye open for any signs of trouble & applying whatever "damage control" is needed to rectify a potentially damaging situation in order to let ebay continually skim their % of the gross dollars that go thru their hands every hour of the day.
I am not an ebay hater per say , but it easy to see that over the last decade ebay has put together a global icon & possibly the worlds most luctrative racket & are able to run it as their own "closed market" run under their own rules. I can't really blame them , if I had thought of building a closed market I would have my own henchmen taking care of business behind closed doors in order to keep the cashflow running.I use the term closed market as compared to properly regulated "open markets" like the stock exchange , buying & selling of futures contracts , short term money market etc etc etc that are regulated by Federal laws , banking authorities etc etc in any country that has a market trading floor , where the people who are gaining from insider trading & other shady business practices are held accountable for their actions under common law & often end up in jail for their actions , rather than getting a scary email telling them their account has been cancelled , but allows them to activate a "sleeper" account they would have created a year or 2 ago & ramp themselves back up to power seller status in 90 days.
What I say here is not out of spite or hatred , I'll vent that energy directly at ebay Australia , it's said from over 10 years of observation & experience in the online computer security underground & real world security experience
(excluding mall renta cop , tho I have the formal training to do the job, useful knowledge to have )
There's a few suggestions & information for Hal & the other moderators who run this pleasant sanctury above , to offer an alternate form of protection & education other than ebays paid self interest goon squad offers & does for you.

PS If there's no takers on my international buy it now real estate offers soon , I'll be forced to keep them all to myself , this is a very limited offer , act now , whilst I'm short on cash , next time I put these items up on the table the prices will be at least triple what I am asking for now.
