I'm not a fan of the fade paint job, but it's a decent enough looking frame and way cool that they are doing this.

I like that the decals are similar to the old ones.

the fade is very similar to the ET, kinda retro. I guess I agree though alfa

What the heck is the deal with the "new" Kuwi? I mean, they're bikes have been available in Japan for awhile pre-Pohlkamp. If you go to their site (which the above pic is from), there are some dope looking flatland rides and mountain bikes, including a full downhill rig. And yet, their AA Pro, who is fast as anything and being paid big $ (well, as BMX goes...), is on a re-stickered frame from his former sponsor? Huh? When are they going to get on the stick and market to America? No product, no dealers...
Dear Kuwahara: I'd like to be your new brand manager. Send me a PM.

I like the style of the frame, I can get over the fade. Anyone know how to get a hold of one. Canadians?

You can buy it here in Japan. Any Kuwahara dealer....its going to cost close to 400 dollars with taxes though, seems to be two colors available of black/white and reverse colors of white/black. It would be cool to see red and white. I might order up a set of those new stickers and see what they are like.
I tried to get in touch with Kuwahara before and I think they know about my website but they don't get back to me.

The Lightning K looks a lot like the laser bars sticker you think?

Nice frame, like the new decals on it too although the sticker sheet has serious issues in the taste department.

Whats a Maser?
Ringer
Feb 26 2006, 05:45 PM
The maser is based on the principle of stimulated emission proposed by Albert Einstein in 1917. When atoms have been put into an excited energy state, they can amplify radiation at the proper frequency. By putting such an amplifying medium in a resonant cavity, feedback is created that can produce coherent radiation.
Some common types of masers...Atomic beam masersAmmonia maser
Hydrogen maser
Gas masersRubidium maser
Solid State masersRuby maser
The dual noble gas maser is an example of a masing medium which is nonpolar.

On Pg43 of the DEC 2005 issue of twenty BMX magazine (RIP), Kuwahara has a full page ad w/ Matt Pohlkamp riding a Kuwi stickered bike.
It shows a complete bicycle line from mini to pro to Cruiser and a top of the line team bike. No specs on each model. But they're sweet looking rides.
They also have a website in big bold letters @ the bottom of the page (www.kuwaharabmx.com). When you visit the site, all it says is return of a legend coming soon.
What a dissapointment. Are these prototypes? Are these bikes already on the market in Canada? What's the deal?
That white expert model would be a sweet ride for my kid in the 2nd half of the season.
Also, Will this line cater to all sizes of adult riders? If they make this bike for say Matt Pohlkamp, he's a tall guy. I'd like shorter chainstays/toptube for my height. Cruiser too.

The above bike (SLAVE) posted by a Steef is actually a Prototype, it says it in small print in Japanese and also says there will be some changes in color and or design for the production model.
Ringer, here is the link to the Kuwahara dealer in Canada.

Yep, its Chromoly. Weighs in at 2 kg which is about 4.4 pounds with no forks which seems a bit heavy to me.
Gooser
Feb 27 2006, 08:07 PM
That's not so heavy... Seems weird that they'd do their high-end racing frame in chromo, though.
As far as the taste issues of the sticker sheet...I thought those were repro's for old models. They look pretty much like the OG Kuwie graphics...super nationalistic Japanese (what, no rising sun sticker?), but not bad. Naming a bike a "Slave" is questionable in taste, however. I picture a name change before the US market...
