If you came up to me in 1976 and told me that I'd still be racing bikes at 40 years old in 2006, I would never have believed you.

I have left a few times. I left in 1984 for a girl. I left again in 1985 to focus on college. I left in 1988 to start a family. I left in 1995 when there were no more tracks to ride with my kids. I left in 2000 after a pair of broken collar bones. I left in 2005 to take care of business.

Racing these bikes is in my blood. You'll never really get rid of me.

See you at the track.................

That's too cool, Ken. Good to see someone with a collection of vintage bmx bikes still racing.

In 1998, I bought my hard working CEO father, (who was about 50 pounds overweight at the time) a new Trek Mountain Bike. He started riding, and riding, and riding. He kept upgrading and getting the latest in modern day road and hybrid bikes. This is a shot of him during the 208 mile STP (Seattle to Portland) with me this past summer.

Now he is at a very healthy weight, rides several Century (100 milers) rides during the spring and summer and even does the Amtrak Century in San Diego along with rides in Northern California in addition to all of the rides he does in Oregon and Washington.

My Father is 24 years older than I am so in 20 years I'll say I'd like to be doing what my Dad is doing on a bike.

Can we look forward to you or dad making a post about restoring that Marin on VRB.com (Vintage road bike) in 20 years?.

I think in 20 years, these are the ones that will be posting on these websites from their wristband PCs. My oldest child, Austin (soon to be 17) and my youngest Emily (soon to be eight) on the New Year's Day Ride. My kids are in to different sports these days (Austin is boxing, Justin is Wrestling and Emily does Tae Kwon Do) but they will always love to ride their bikes.

Ken the money you spent on that Trek has paid you back enormous dividends.

Playing with the scanner again. Asphalt race in the rain in 1981. No gate, no jumps, three laps for motos five laps for mains.

1982 Riverside Park first jump. If you could pedal that jump you wouldn't lose.
