Hey guys just wonderin does the PL20 Carrera pads only come in white wth snap-ons(like in the pix wth Stu), or are they available in other colors and using the traditional velcro? Well since we addressing vintage Redline pads, besides the grey/black combo, do they come in other factory colors?

Namza
Serr, the grey one is the one dat fits the PL20 CARRERA II which is released back in 1983.

Cool terimakasih bro. I know abt the Carrera IIs pads, exactly like the RL20 version minus the word Carrera but wat abt the eralier ones above. Does it only come in white? Non Velcro?

I'm no expert, but since no one else has chimed in...

I'm pretty darn sure they only came in white, as pictured. There was a first generation nylon/velcro pad set that looked like the above snap pads, but I've never seen one that had the Carrera logo.

The white snap pads were replaced in about '82 with the red/grey/black design, which as only available in those colors.

However, I have seen a RL ad from about '82 with a hybrid of the two styles. White with a repeating RL logo (as in the black/grey/red variety), but I've never seen one outside that ad, so they may have never gone into production.

The PL-20 Carrera vinyl pad with snaps only came
in white but redline also had regular redline vinyl
pads in yellow. I have been looking for a white
Carrera pad for 4 years, it is the only thing I
need for that exact replica bike in the pic if anyone
can help! Ben ridezbmx@cox.net

Was that this era padset, or the previous? I've seen the earlier style (with the oldest RL logo) in yellow, but never seen this generation/RL logo in anything but white.

This is why I asked, knock offs, u think?

Yasser
Any ideas fellow Redline fans?

I'd say knock-offs, because I was a HUGE Redline nut BITD and I've never seen pads that look anything like that.

Sad as they are of decent condition. Will just put them on my bike from parts lying around recently inspired by Andy Diamonds spare parts build.

I think I recall, at some point, an Austrailian noting that Austrailian RLs were built down under because of importation issues of some sort (perhaps someone can clarify what I think i remember...)

The point being, that they may be a genuine RL product specifically for the AU market (I'm assuming you found them somewhere in the International neighborhood of Singapore).
Yasser
Yup here right at home, u could be right Frazer as I can truly recall that it was so much harder to lay our hands on US made parts BITDs, maybe its for Asia distribution, wellone can only be hopeful.
