You know, I really hope I'm just spaced out or something because I've come up with NOTHING during my search for a bottom bracket for an '82 DB Silver Streak.
Where do I find a sealed BB with a square taper spindle? The only one I've seen is on Dan's Comp. I've tried one of these out before and the spindle cracked in half after a week of riding... possibly due to the fact that it was a foot and a half long (REALLY screwed up the chain alignment).
I SUMMON THEE, BMX ANCIENTS!!! BLESS ME WITH A DECENT PARTS CATALOG AND PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO LOOK ON EBAY. FOR IF I SEE ANOTHER EURO, SPANISH, MID, OR LITHUANIAN BB I'LL GO INSANE.

Your riding a 1982 Diamond Back and your breaking modern spindles, is this how you get a poopoopottyface?
I suggest a decent modern chromoly set-up, 1pc, Profile or Redline. Or buy old stuff, and look at it.

Short story. I was building up the DB for a friend when we had to evacuate NOLA during the great 'cane of aught five. Had cheap cranks on it till I could find something decent. Homeboy's in Savannah now cruisin the DB and needs a shorter spindle to get the chain aligned.. and new cranks cuz the cheapies I put on it rounded out.
The skinny-tires-and-tight-pants guys at his local bike shop are too afraid to look for parts... so i'm trying to help out. Probably will just go with a Redline setup... just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
Thanks for the welcome! This is going to be fun. Want to put my PK in the museum because I've never seen another yellow one.
PottyFace. Out.

Hmm...I've got one of the American sealed square taper BBs from Dan's on my Team Mongoose and it works fine...chain line is perfect. Reminds me of an old Cook Bros BB. The thing is this: square tapers are not good. I use that particular bike for cruisin' around in Golden Gate park with my daughter.
I agree with Randy...if you're rounding out cranks and breaking spindles, you need to enter the modern world with a modern bike. Buy an S&M or Brew or Supercross or whathaveyou...and leave the vintage bikes for a Sunday cruise.

Cool. Cool. In other news, I think I got my screen name yanked. What's the deal?
