So I'm sanding some washers last night. First with 180 grit, then 320, 400, 600, blah blah to get a mirror shine for my stem washer. Actually had to do two of them. Anyway, get the first one knocked out, then on the 320 grit of the second washer, blood everywhere. What the fu**!? Turns out I had unwittingly/unknowingly sanded through the tip of my thumb. Didn't feel a thing until it was too late. Must have struck an artery or something.

Yeah, it's minor in the grand scheme of things. So let's hear it. What's the worst you've done while fixing something??

Flew down to Florida a couple of weeks ago and picked up an ELF frame and fork. I had to custom cut a full sized mountain bike box to get the bike on the plane to come home. Being the only one in the house at that time I had to unroll a big roll of duct tape and cut it myself. Being the smart guy I am I put the cut end in my teeth and unrolled it with one hand and cut it with sissors in my other hand. Problem is when I cut the tape I went to yank it out of my teeth it grabed the top of my bottom lip. When I looked at the tape afterwards my lip was still attached to it. Looked like some lady had blotted just her bottom lip after putting lipstick on. Bled like heck too. It took 9 days to close up.

Dudes. I tought there'd be more stories out there. My first attept at an off-topic thread has crashed hard. Thanks leadsled for hanging with me on this one. Sorry about your lip. That was funny as hel* though.

Whenever I cut a brake cable, it never fails - I end up with a strand of cable stuck in my finger - ouch!

Too numerous to mention. I am kind of a uncoordinated. So anytime I would spend more than 15 minutes working on anything I'd end up bruised, scraped, poked, pinched, or bleeding. Usually my hands, so I cut down on injuries by wearing mechanics gloves most of the time.

I was going out with this girl and she mentioned that since I spent more time on my bikes than I do with her, it was time for her to move on. She broke my heart.
