I bought my first set of CW bars.
I have yet to install them on anything, because the things that bugged me BITD, are bugging me worse now that I actually have to deal with it.
First, the chrome sux.
Second, most (almost all) number plates don't work.
Third, handlebar pads don't fit.
So what is to like about them? Well, They actually do feel comfy, although they are not on a bike yet.
I quickly figured out that a frame pad fits the crossbar perfectly, and a crossbar pad does not fit at all. So, my new theory, and question to you all is;
Since I have noticed that OS crossbar pads are the most abundant pads available, and since many bars are v-bars, and others are straight. Lots of extra pads were made for people to choose the ones they needed. So that makes sense.
The second most available pads are stem pads. 3 styles of stem pads needed. The vast majority were pro-neck style. So this makes sense too.
The ones you can never find are the frame pads. Every single bike needed a frame pad. Quads, and Torkers being the only real exceptions to the norm. So WHY are there no frame pads to be found????
My new theory is that there were SO MANY CW bars made, that it is possible that everyone is using a frame pad for CW bars. This would mean that 2 frame pads are being used on a LOT of bikes, leaving plenty of extra straight crossbar pads, a normal usage of stem pads, and a huge shortage of frame pads.
How many people use frame pads for CW bars? Is this the norm? This is my first set ever. What do you think? Is this why there are so few frame pads available?????

Yeah, everyone used frame pads on CW bars BITD. Bar pads were too small and would've looked silly. You may have unravelled the great mystery of the missing frame pads.

It is the only thing that has made any sense to me.
If that was, and is, the norm, then I bet there are still a lot of bikes out there using 2 frame pads.

frame pads were always the first to get crud in the press studs and go rusty, therefore the first to get flung in the trash when the studs pulled from the vinyl. that's my experience anyway...

I have been searching for two Cal Lite or Flite black and white checkered frame pads for my bike with CW bars for a while now, and have yet to find even one! I bought a reversible checkered handlebar pad for the CW bar and the thought of the larger dia tubing of those bars never crossed my mind untill the pad arrived and I looked at it and said, well this will never work! So if anyone wants to trade a straight handlebar pad for a frame pad of the above description, I'm game for it.

Do you plan on selling them? Let me know.
I never used cross bar pads...Still don't. They made my number plate bow out and I just hated that, so after inspection I would pull it off. Then of course I would sometimes get caught up at the gate and who ever drove me was standing there with it just in case...
