I have had a couple builds that I tried to use
a suntour f/w but it won't line up with the
front gear because the teeth on a suntour
f/w are a little off center to the inside but it
works fine with a shimano f/w because thier
teeth are centered on the f/w! Anyone else
have this problem and any remedies to make
use of the suntour f/w's?

If it's to the inside of front chain ring ,you can add an extra washer or two to the inside of the dropout on the left. If it's the oppisite do the oppisite! I hope that makes sense and helps!

I have tried that but it seems to still bind with
the suntour f/w!

Oops That last post was a brain _art on my behalf! You only do that above when your chain rubs the dropout! For your issue you must have the correct spacer on the sprocket for proper set up line up with the freewheel! Good luck!

You can shim the spider or you can shim the wheel.
All in all, perfect allignment is a rarity.
Does one of your freewheels have external threads on it?
It is another ebay snafu. Many sellers show you the side view of the freewheel only. Many freewheels have threads for a 2 speed set up. this offsets the teeth. Sometimes this can help you, and other times it becomes a useless freewheel.
It is possible you are using a standard freewheel and a 2 speed freewheel.
A third variety are just plain offset for no aparent reason.
Keep the one, and sell the other! Someone else is probably looking for one offset like that!

A fixed cup spacer for a road bike bb will slip over the F/W threads of the hub and allow you to space the F/W out when you screw it on. Is one of these F/Ws the one you recently got from me?

I thought about spacing it and it might work
on some but on others it would put the freewheel
to close to the frame and rub. I guess it depends
on the distance from the hub shell to the outside
of the locknut.

Ted, I bought an ACS claw and those inside threads are on that freewheel. Is that what you talking about? I had to shim that wheel too as it wasn't lined up, but a 2mm washer is all it needed

They make aluminum freewheel spacers that go between the hub and the freewheel. I use those on any bike with a freewheel because it makes it so much easier to remove the freewheel.
