from what I heard they where made by the original welder for Nomura. After the company closed the welder took some of the left over tubing and fabricated a few frames. So its the same Nomura tubing and dropouts just put together with a differnt geometry, think mtn. bike. I will try to get a pic this weekend.

the 26 inch is built with the geometry of a
26 inch schwinn only one ever built.

The Nomuras bring BIG bucks. There are a number of SHADY characters from California that have Nomuras. These SHADY characters have been caught red handed in SCAMS involving high dollar FAKE vintage BMX parts. I think Hals concerned that this thread might take a turn and become a downward spiral if anything of this nature surfaces. I certainly know nothing of the such but thats what ran through my mind the moment I saw this thread.

Is this the same guy who welded up several VDC's two years ago using the original jigs?

While not a fan of Bill Ryan I can say that theres no problem with the Nomorea frame sets from a deceipt stand point. Bill designed and built those frames as a tribute and in the public eye. The SCAMS that I'm referring to are done under ground and with the purpose of passing a FAKE off as an ORIGINAL.

SO FAR the bikes don't appear, aside from the basic structure, that they're trying to pass off as Nomuras. However, with old school parts, maybe a fresh powder and a few stickers...Oh yes, I can see how that could get dangerous. Let's see if we hear any more from this guy about it.
BRIAN HAYS
Feb 3 2006, 11:24 AM
Well, thats not gonna happen because the geometries are completely different plus the top tube doesn't pierce the seat tube like all true Nomura's did and these appear to be 1 1/8" threadless which in itself is a dead giveaway.

The way it should be. A la Azusa and Kappa.

These bikes are certainly a little different from the original Nomuras, no issue with those frames. The issue is someone in California has/had the tubing and dropouts to make more Nomuras. All I'm saying is its possible that there could be some fake Nomuras. A huge leap of faith at this point but CERTAINLY something I wouldn't rule out down the road. I wouldn't put ANYTHING past the guys that have made FAKE Landing Gears, FAKE VDC forks, FAKE SE Bars, and who know what else. Again not saying anything wrong has been done but I'd be suspicious of Nomura stuff.

MAZEZ, I'm not sying there is anything wrong with the TRB frames or that the welder did anything wrong. All I'm saying is my eyes are now open to possible FAKE NOMURAS. There are a few SCUM BAGS from your home state that would sweet talk the welder into building an identical Nomura and then pass it off as a real Nomura. In my opinion Nomuras are now on the possible FAKE list especial when sold by the individuals in California.

Ray, I hope that you are not saying that everyone who lives in Cali should be regarded as suspicious. I know that there are a few bad seeds in my state but there are also alot of great guy's too.
I purchased one of these TRB frames because I thought it was cool that it had the style of a Nomura but the dimensions of a MTB. When I received the frame I noticed that the rear dropout had TRB stamped into it. I thought that it was great that the welder chose to I.D. the frame allowing everyone to know that it is not a Nomura.
I am sure I will probably crack the frame since I am pretty hard on my MTB bikes. After that it probably will go into the can. I have been burned before with purchasing false items, think SE cruiser bars. I wasnt aware until Tim caught wind that there where some repro bars floating around.
I know that this can be a double edge sword especially to someone who is new and uneducated to vintage bmx collecting. But please try not to give my state a bad taste in the collecting community. It has happened in other places as well, remember "Sander speeds".

Doc, I certainly wasn't referring to you. I think you know who I'm talking about. Don't take it personal but many of the SCUM BAGS are in So Cal because thats where the bike companys were located.

I have one of the 24" TRB frames and it looks to be well made. I just need to get that frame polished out like those in the photo.
