I have just installed some 401 flights on my Patterson PR200, and the drive side arm hits the rear chainstay. Someone else has experienced this problem, and used Profile cranks instead.

Has anyone had the same problems, and how were they overcome?

Cheers

shims/spacers, made specifically for this problem, all flights originally came with them, rinis bmx has some i believe at $1 a piece, you may need 3-5 of them.

You need a 6" flight spindle, a new school FSA 6 spline will work but you'll have to go with the Nnew school floating BB system vs. the old RL threaded set up. I would not recommend shimming out a 5.5" spindle if you plan to actually ride the bike. I only had half of each arm clamped to the 5.5" spindle before I got a longer 6" spindle. Life was easy as a kid, 178mm Sugino 1 pc, wasn't a problem. (I might be wrong could be 5" to 5'5", at work) Option #3 put profile box cranks on it.

a couple 3/4" I.D. washers from the local hardware store should do the trick for about .50 cents.

Thanks guys.

That's one of the reasons I want Profiles on my PR200.

Brent and Brian ran 401s BITD at various points so it obviously can be done though.
