I would like to throw out an idea that may be of some extreme use to us all. I’m just brain storming so don’t ask me how to make it happen. But, with enough of us brainstorming maybe we can make it happen. Perhaps we should cram our heads together and come up with the most comprehensive serial number data base the vintage BMX junkie’s world has ever seen. Maybe we all could contribute our knowledge and build a data base that would include Year, Make, Model based on serial number. Maybe we could start with the most known brands and learn from each other from there. I admit I know very little but there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum that, given a central place to share this knowledge we could all learn from each other. Anyone think we can make this happen?

Guess not...oh well

Well, it's just that in a lot of instances, like Hutch for example, when there's actually a serial, they don't seem to follow any rhyme or reason. It's like they just grabbed a dropout from the bin and it goes on whatever, and that's the number it ended up with. Some are easier, like early GTs where the first three digits are the date code. Unfortunately, most of the others aren't that easy. Good idea, but just about impossible to do.

I thought VBMX was working on a dropout guide that anyone could access for quick reference on dating frames/forks? Is that still in the works?
