Just so this doesn't get lost I thought I would start this thread. I saw him race in CA a few times. He hauled ***.

I stole this pic from Stinson. Post some more if you have them.

Hey, good ole Frank. One hell of a rider on his day. That picture was taken at Malibu Grand Prix in Orlando Fl, you can just see me under his arm.
He came down later and stayed with us for a few days (NBL Nationals were here at the time). He went to stay at someone else's house a bit later. After he left we noticed he had left his jacket and in it was his winnings from the races-$1700.00. Funny thing was he didn't even noticed he didn't have it.

I was about to do a new post on a cool couple of jeresey that I got from Mike Rush (Spike) got for me (THANKS MIKE!!!,) when I saw this one.

Hiya Frank, Hope all is well This is Rick G. from the old Bicycle Center in Santa Cruz when Roger Sands used to own it and Don Sands was the sales manager. (remember him? he took over Speedo after the Pattersons left)

I been trying to remember the name of the guy who had Wes' in Scotts Valley, and have drawn a blank. Can you refresh my memory please.

The original Wes' BMX was in Felton CA and i remember riding my bike over the hills from Santa Cruz on Highway 9 to get my first set of alloy bars. The shop is in my top three shops ever

Take Care

You can usually find Frank at every Reno National lurkin somewhere. He always has a good story to tell. He had on an old old Supercross jersey.

One of the fastest riders in his heyday.
The only rider with 3 grands wins in 1 year...ABA,NBA and UBR.

I believe 81

Can someone post the interview or article on Frank Post from SuperBMX when it had him in front of his old R and R? I do not have too many SuperBMX issues.
Randy
Bob Medrano and Frank Post.

Reilley1
Frank, in case you missed the other post. Yah, I remember Landino. What is he up to nowdays?
Frank Post
If anybody has pics and the time I can use all that you have. Everything of mine destroyed or lost.
Frank Post
Me and Bob still argue over this pic... about who`s jump is radder. I say he`s doing a garden variety Leary. While i`m doing a european TT. this is in between the semi`s and the mains. pretty bold for my race bike. Could have landed on a carton of eggs and never broke one, now Bob on the other hand...Tuff Wheels!!...Take that Medrano...We both won the supercross rings that day. Although it was really Matt Harris that won the AA overall, but he knew how bad i wanted that ring. A great guy...I have worn that ring for 24 yrs..thanks Matt.
Brian B
I consider Bobs jump Johns Cews-ish. Either way, that pic rules.
I've never seen a picture of Medrano without his helmet on. Come to think of it, I think I've only seen one pic of Frank without his on.
Frank Post
It is an ugly site either way...lol. a "Crews" would have had his inside foot back. In this case Bobs left foot. I can see that it sort of a cross of the two...
AndyDiamond
Hey Frank, in your Kuwahara days.. what was the story...

How was hanging with Kevin McNeil and Lee Medlin etc?

Wasn't there one point where you all quit the team and rejoined based on the fact you all stuck up for each other?
Frank Post
NO...NO...NO...Lee was a real cool kid. McNiel was jealous as soon as i got on the team. cost me a AA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP title, and trophy dash. Which got his helmet slapped around at Amarillo. (I know your laughing back there Greg). I believe Kevin didnt like sharing the spotlite, even though he was getting paid, and i wasnt. Lee I believe was about $$$...oops... am`s dont get paid...ha,ha,ha. I quit because they did`nt get me a ticket to 81` NBL GRANDS. They did`nt think I would want to go...HELLOOOO!!! Anyway they got me there, but had to pay for everthing else w/my own $. in the end I could not get my bike on the plane. No more $, had to leave it in ST.LOUIS at the airport w/cute blonde that rode for Panda. Heavy hittin PP.Can`t remember her name.(sorry). the next week was THE SILVERDOME, no ticket again...They say well how can you race w/ no bike...I say why isnt my bike here already...they say your responsible for getting your bike back here... but,I didnt win any $$...you have a whole wherehouse full of bikes out there, ya think I can use one. Well the answer was NOOOO!!!...Sooo...I told them to ~!@^!!...+_)!!(..*&^%!!...@##$!!...its sailor talk, not for young ears..."Habba dabba abba babba"...If you know... you know...
Reilley1
Glad to see you haven't changed Frank..

Growing up back east I didnt get the whole NorCal vs SoCal thing so I had my favorite riders from both.
From Nor Cal i always pulled for Scot Clark (even owned a SCP padset in the mid 80s), the Pattersons and John Crews and some guy named Post. Actually I had Franks autograph one year at the Worlds (1980 i think) and took some pictures of you (you were on Panda then I think).
If I get a scanner Ill send you them or post em.
steef
I always liked those NorCal riders. Maybe it was just rooting for the underdog. I rode and raced on a Patterson for a while.

My favorite Frank Post moment -- was at a Friday night under the lights, at King's BMX. My brother and I, and some buddies, drove down to Modesto to race at NIGHT, for the first time ever.
And Frank Post was there and blew us away.
This was back in the days where if you jumped the gate in the first round, they'd make you start backwards in the next moto.
So, second moto, new Panda pro Frank "CW" Post had to start backwards. We all watched intently. By the first turn, he'd caught them all, and by turn two, had like a 1/2 a straight lead.
We talked about that race in disbelief for years to come!
You remember that night, Frank?

I really miss those Kings bmx days......

I remember the "pro-ams" winner take all.
20-30 guys all lined up against the back fence. Everyone flying through staging and up and over the starting hill. I know you won a few of those Frank
Brian B
Boy I hope Frank is a regular poster. That story rocked.
Jim Stinson
Hey 'CW' - The Panda blonde was Margo Carroll - she was a lil hot shoe in her own right bitd. Allow me to help you rebuild your scrap book...

Thanks for the tip Justin!

Justin: That picture you posted of Frank was the Spring Nationals at Grass Valley, California. That was the first turn. I remember that picture in the magazine bitd.
Shawn Sheely MN-1
You NorCal guys rocked it BITD.

Frank, tell Bob I said hi! Thanks for posting, Amarillo... I was there for that one, good times...
Frank Post
Been out w/the flu...yes Gork ,I remember that nite. I used to practice starting backwards...after Brent Patterson did it at McClaren Park, and whole shoted to the first turn... That was a rubberband start, and my frontroom is longer than McClarens first straight...
Frank Post
My favorite U.B.R. memory was the `80 Labor day, or Memorial day Nationals. Got the dreaded outside lane in the main. Not one of my best starts, Scott Lykins hit me w/ a good elbow, rite outa the gate. I hit the powder, and was on my butt, in seconds...Well I sat there for a moment, watched everybody go over the drop off, and got P.O.ed...Got up grabbed the bike, and caught Lykins by the jump into the first turn. Passed everyone but Riddling down the second straight. Then put the sweetest, cleanest move on him in the big berm, and coasted across the finish sittin down...w/a 42/16...Im pretty sure Gork and his brother was still hackin, and Jon Rotten was there too...Those were the days my friends...
Glen Seelenbrandt
Frank, do you remember coming to Rhode Island in the summer of 1980? I remember all the big pros of the day coming to our small little NEBA sanctioned track and you blew doors on Stu, Brent, Toby, Bobby Woods, Scott Clark, Sewell.... Man I was only 7, but after you and Ronnie Anderson came through town I wanted to ride a Panda so bad. It kind of seems funny looking back and seeing New England as such a hotbed for Panda (Jim Paiva, Buff Somers, and I think Steve Nougeira) - mostly because RI and Mass seem to be the antithesis of Norcal.
Frank Post
Yes, I remember. Dale Fraza the track operator, made the mistake of leaving me in charge of the tractor operator, while he went for gatorade...He did`nt recognize his own track 30 minutes later...
Glen Seelenbrandt
Frank, if you do live in Reno like it says in your details - my buddy Jim and I want to buy you a beer - PM me and we'll hook it up.
Frank Post
Sure guys, say when and where...
mcam
>Yes, I remember. Dale Fraza the track operator, >made the mistake of leaving me in charge of the >tractor operator, while he went for gatorade...He >did`nt recognize his own track 30 minutes later...

Now, that is damn funny.

Hey Frank I saw you in Amarillo 80-81? I got a Panda Pro-Am 26" after that; to this day it was my favorite ride from BITD. I either had #13 or #18; three years ago after 20+ years of looking I got #18 "maybe my old bike" and had it triple show chromed?

My question to you is did you ever race 26"? Not sure of the when the first Panda 26" came out, two fours were late 81' I believe? If so any highlights?

Cheers
Cliff
Frank Post
yes rode a 24" schwinn cruiser modified to take 26" wheels by my girlfriends father George Gera Sr. in 81`. Beat Kosmala at San Martin with it. Won a few UBR NATS. on a Kos cruiser, but it was way to much work. It kinda would throw me off for my 20, which paid the bills.... Didnt really start to race cruisers till 24`s came along.
tim kakouris
frank, the pp was margo carroll.
tinman41
cant remember where or when ,,,,cw had crashed and everbody came running over,,,,to check on him,,,,,,,,and frank saying (gimmie room )as he got up,,,i laughed at that for along time,,,,,,,frank was something else.
Frank Post
Tinman what race???
HA Y N
I was a little late in the game, but I sat next to Frank on a plane ride back from the 86 ABA Grands. I'd known about him and was a little intimidated, but he was cool and even asked how I did. I must have looked like a little dork since I was wearing the free "road cycling hat" with the bill up that I got in my goodie bag.

That was my only run-in with the Nor Cal legend!!
