As removed from the barn.

The rundown -
GT bars
Suntour stem
Tioga crank
Sugino sproket
Shimano pedals
Dia-Compe MX brake
Tuf-Neck set clamp
rear wheel is basic
Front is 7X w/alloy nipples & red Bullseye hub
Even has a dirt skirt

The story -
I was at the music store to check some drums for my daughter. Started talking Jeeps with one of the drum guys while my daughter played around (because it is normal for guys to talk Jeeps )
Seems he is looking to start his own 4x4 shop - which got us to talking business which of course led to bikes and then the "I have this old... blah blah etc etc ...it's in the barn at my parents..." so on & stuff.
Couldn't stop the "...interested to sell it?" that slipped out of my mouth - Which led to exchange of phone numbers.
Tonight I went over. Made an offer. Now it is in my basement.

It is round tube which I think is later model ...so probably more mid-school but either way - I am excited about this one.
Couldn't really afford it but I couldn't pass it up either. Not sure what I am going to do.

Thanks
Always fun to dig up old cool stuff ...and even better when I get a story out of it.
Other interesting part of this story - where he grew up and the bike was at, is just over a mile from where I live now.

Dirt skirt is a small aluminum ring that mounted on the fork under the crown race.
Idea was that it would deflect dirt kicked up by the front tire and keep it out of the headset.

No clue on the fork. It has plugged ends and a triangle punch in the dropouts.
Anyone know if there was a "normal" fork used on these?
I'll post up a better image of the fork ...likely someone here will know what it is.

Guy's name is Mike. He is younger... 20s (lol - kinda hurts to say that someone is 'younger'). Said he was like 3 when his dad bought it for him, second-hand. This bike was his rider growing up but he never raced much.
I'm going to take the bike and show it off to Gordy later today. Should be interesting... seems to be like the "six degrees of Freewheeler" with bikes I run into lately.

I always thought Slingshots were a cool looking bike. Good luck with the resto.

Those look like Redline Microline forks. Odd that it would have such junk cranks/sprocket, given that it was such a high-end bike - maybe the cranks/sprocket were switched (along with the rear wheel)

thats gotta rank on the endangered species list as rarest frame, wow! I forgot about those
