Hi guys
Tonight I got to hang out with my dad. We drank a whole load of beer and whisky, which is a rare thing as he lives in the states and I live in the uk...so we get to spend about a week or so together every year. Back in the day, he was the one who used to shout my name until he was hoarse - regardless of what position I was in coming off the back straight at our local track - and I can still remember hearing him hollering my name through my helmet. It gave me almost herculean strangth to get over that line as fast as I could.
God bless you dad, and long live Vintage BMX and all my global soulmates!
Goodnight all,
Bob Kemp (the_wheelie_king)

Ditto what everyone said above. It's hard being away from family. My husband is British and his parents are still living over in the UK. The hubby is going to the UK in a few weeks for a long week. I'm happy for him as I decided to go to Reno to race this weekend instead. It's always cool getting some one on one time with your pops as I supported my husband on doing.
One of these days when I head over to the UK, usually it's yearly I'll be taking my bike and heading to the local track in Milton Keynes. Haven't made it there yet and I really want to.

I know, and thanks for your comments. I absolutely love this website and feel at home here because of all the kindred spirts. Sadly, I have to get to bed now as I am absolutely sloshed and have to be at work in about six hours time...
But here's my final thought before I pass out. Every so often, you've got to think **** it, right? I mean, isn't that the attitude that made us all launch ourselves over damn near any obstacle we came across bitd? I don't think any of us should ever stop reminiscing about those old and beautiful memories. Goodnight, you knowledgeable and lucky few who know what VBMX is all about. Peace and a very happy 2006 to you all.

Cheers lads.
To explain, my folks work in the states (NJ, funnily enough) but always come home for christmas. That's why the old man and I insist on going out and getting tanked up at least once a year. We always end up wandering off into an overly emotional BMX-fuelled nostalgia trip, hence the above being posted in the first place. It was oh, so hard getting up for work the next morning though...but hey ho. Totally worth it

Fort Lee, right on the river overlooking the Upper West side of NYC and the George Washington bridge. They're so close you can read the writing on the side of the trucks as they cross over it
