Jim Stinson
Has anyone spotted John on this site?
DE BMXer
John has his own website - - www.luxxy.blogspot.com

He is also in the process of opening a bike shop in PA. Don't tell him I said this, but he is a pretty fast road and cyclocross racer these days. Top 5 guy on most days.

Tell him Fort James sent ya'

No way!!!!"De" Lux,this site is utterly amazing!
Jim Stinson
Thanks Ft. James. I suppose John has no interest in the vbmx thing at this time as he seems fairly occupied with his road riding/racing and the pending grand opening of his new bike shop.

I think most would agree that John would be a welcomed addition here at VBMX. As I recall, he can tell stories like no other!

For those that may not recall John Lux, he did a fair amount of announcing at the NBL nationals (east coast) in the early to mid-80s. His commentating was nothing short of colorful.

Ha, he still likes to announce and is a great story teller. I will keep working on him and one day, he too will be here.

I see Luxxy at local road & cross races. I will get him on board the Vintage. That should be interesting. By the way he is quite fast on the road and cross bike these days. Knowone is as animated as Luxxy. Did his shop opening ever go thru?

Luxy was racing cyclocross. A few times he ran into Larry. I have 2 cyclocross bikes in the living room set up as commuter bikes. Commute to work from Chicago 99% of the time. Last year rode 5,600 miles.

GET ON IT LUXY! -Pops Lux (RIP)

DeLux was the best team. Even Luxy beat that guy who won the Tour de France. I remember Luxy, but who's that other guy?

DeLux favorites in 1982 from the DeLux RV:
- Scorpions "Black Out"
- DEVO "New Traditionalists"

Welcome back to BMX John . What class do your guys run ? I know you and Kent are 40-44 cr are you going to ride a 20 in . The NBL has a 41-over class now ?
TheSystemBMX
I'm in good shape and could easily show up at a race. I'm sure gate starts would need a lot of work. As Pops would say "Grease up your eyeballs!" Forget 20". I was always a cruiser specialist whenever possible from day 1 in MD. See my youtube of Kos winning Vineland on a 26" Kos Kruiser in 1980 under user id bvonmoss. So, I will be 44 this summer, so we'd all be in the same class: Kent Gordon Lightfoot, Lux-Zaayy, Larry. Who else? Dee on 24x1-3/8" wheels? I live 40 miles away from "The Hill BMX" in Elgin, IL, and 80 miles from Rockford, IL. I have some pics in the De Lux RV that I'll post later: Dee sleeping on the road, Luxy pushing the RV with broken down fuel filter, those 2 young guys. One of those guys could beat everybody in arm wrestling.

Hey Dee, many of the DeeLuxx pics are on Facebook, on my account, Larry's account, and other peoples' like Mason, and other east coast bmx Facebook groups. The problem posting here is that each person needs to manage their own storage space. There are probably some in other threads here too, which can be hard to locate.

Looking at what I have online...
here are some:

Dee snoozing with Pops at the helm of the DeeLuxx RV somewhere on the Ohio turnpike BITD

BVM on a Panda at Vineland '80

Luxy pushing an RV on the PA turnpike

There is a pic of Dee racing pro cruiser in Ohio in the bunch on Larry's account maybe.
Hopefully you have some pics too. I'd like to see pics of the 1-3/8" wheels in the pro class myself.

...eyeballs greased...
(one time we were on the road in the DeLux RV and I lost my contact lens on the floor. Without a contact lens I could not beat Rob Litzenberg. Pops was driving and said, "Grease Up Your Eyeballs!")

...gettin' on it!...

...DIVE! LUXY, DIVE!...
