Classic...thanks Byron!!
Moosegoose Nick
Hell, does anyone know if Jim Emerson is still alive? Last I seen of him was in 1987/88. He and Chris Herting were making frames in San Fernando Ca.

I think that photo dates back to his EFF days.Or just prior.

I am not seeing any image!

Love those old monoshockers! That's a really interesting pivot setup they designed. Be really cool to see one up close to see how they built it.
rick
Looks like a good design to prevent chain tension/slack when the shock is compressed. Was there only one made?

Byron:

That bike is sweet like Honeycomb cereal!

Hey, where is Emerson? That would be awesome to catch up with him.
Moosegoose Nick
Cash, last time I heard anything about Emerson was in 87/88.I know he was living in either Sun Valley or North Hollywood Ca.
I might get ahold of Chris Herting and see if he has heard anything from him.

Jim Emerson. First sponsor of legendary Dave Clinton and all around great guy and innovator.

From a BMX Collector interview with Dave

quote:
Do you remember your modified Royce Union girl's bike?

That was a cool bike for it's time. Jim Emerson welded a top tube on the frame so I would not bend it. He also laced up some wheels with 120 gage spokes so I could jump without bending them.

I'm not seeing the picture either.

Guys, I just got off of the phone with Emerson himself. Man it was good chatting with him. Talk about memories...
Reilley1
Good man. BMX owes him a lot
Moosegoose Nick
You're so right Rick. He was a TRUE pioneer of BMX back in the day.In my opinion.
Had a hard time beleiving he is almost 70.Dang time flies.
I might see if I can wrangle him up for Rockford. If not this year then next.
He's doing good,"Watching the grass grow and being a farmer." Also mentioned he is trying to get together some sponsors for a drag car he is a part of.
Mentioned a lot of names,
Utterback,Friday,Clinton,Encinas, and some others. I was stoked as all heck just finding the old man and chatting. Put a big smile on my face.
He helped a lot of local kids with parts, advice and the occasional beer.SHHHH don't tell anyone about that.
As a kid,11-19 years old, I spent numerous hours in his shop B.S."ing and working for parts and also on my bikes. Ahhh, to be there again.....

So what is the connection of Triple A and the Kawasaki BX Series? Tires, seat, bars are all the same. Similar lines and parts (like the BB). I always thought the Kawasaki was a US production. Was it Triple A? and did Jim Emerson work for or own them?
BenOr
Bump - Can anyone answer the previous questions?
Jeff Utterback
Is it true he gave Lynn the idea for the one leg fork?

A drag car? I MUST find out what he's doing...(what is it with drag racing and BMX? Cook bros. GT,Thruster, GJS, BMX products...EFF! and Clayton John raced drag bikes BITD)

Been too busy to give him a call, but I will, Jim was always great to me and my old man!
Jeff Utterback
Hey Ben, Triple A was Bill Bastian I think!

I know he did the Kawasaki's. the first Race inc. I rode was Kawasaki geometry and I had to use drop out lifts to get ground clearance for 7 1/2" cranks.
