Dec 17 2005, 04:41 PM
Not Puch, Panda or Powerlite, not sure about Profile but I doubt it. I guess a mid-90's Pacific dealybob.

Dec 17 2005, 07:14 PM
If it was a mid 90's wouldn't it have canti mounts? I think someone on here will recognize it sooner or later because it seems to ring a bell with me but just can't remember.

Dec 17 2005, 07:48 PM
I sure hope so.
I got it for 25 bucks at a local pawn shop. Had lots of goodies on it, so it was well worth it.
How bout these pics? Ring a bell?
Thanks

It also screams Panda. But I do not recall a Panda with a P gusset. But that does not mean that there wasn't one.....

I looked on bmxmuseum.com and looked up the panda bikes. It resembles this one, but it has some discrepencies. I emailed them with the serial # and pics. Hopefully they can help somehow. This bike looks similar to a lot of bikes. Particularly Diamond Backs. The gusset area looks like the 83 SilverStreak, but its a looptail.
I hope it turns up
Thanks all.

Sorry, ...Honestly nothing against it....the shot was there though....You know how that is sometimes...you left a good set up!...lol
It looks SO Panda like, the Panda replica seems the most plausable....You wouldn't think that it would be that hard to ID, but that is what keeps it interesting.
Afterall, when you do ID it, it might stand for "priceless"....

Okay, I did some research on this frame. It's from a very rare company called PingTang. I think they were only in business for about 2 years, produced in Northern China.
Okay, I made all that up. Heck, I gotta help keep this thread alive if you wanna reach 100 posts!
Randy
Dec 30 2005, 01:01 AM
PingTang, yea, I think thats the ticket. I remember reading about Ping Tang, the lady that took over the operation for her late husband Poon....or was it the other way around? Anyway, I found this photo in Super BMX so you know it's for real.

Well, it has some "seagull poop" welds that look similar to some Pandas I've seen.

It looks like either a early 80s Puffy, or a Porker !

Big round welds usually insinuate mild steel, but it's a looptail so it's cool regardless and a deal at that price, just for the parts off of it. Wasn't there another thread on these frames recently?

It's a 1981 peckerwood made in Montana! My buddy who had the #2 plate was factory for them and he had a set of those on his bike too!

That has to be from mid-80's or earlier. Chromed, loop-tailed, double-gusseted bikes were outta style after then. I agree, it looks like something made by whoever made Diamond Backs. Looks like a DB with a P in the gusset instead of a diamond. You know how BMX Products made so many bikes with different names on them, this could be the same kinda situation. Maybe it was for a foreign market, or sold to military PX's, like the Blue Max bikes. Good luck with your vendetta .
BTW, I think it's safe to say you can take 'PK Ripper' off the list.

Hey I remember that same fram being raced by this guy in Canyon Country, CA in 1983. He was a fat **** and slow as could be. We always called the bike the Porky Pig Cycle.
Looking at your picks brought bak that fond memmory!
Thanks
It looks just like a DB viper (maybe Pete's Percision Products) the P looks the same as the P on his stuff.
Just a guess?

Did Peregrine ever make frames? I doubt that's a Profile. That "P" in the gusset is a logo of some sort, but not one that Profile ever used. Not a Privateer either.
