ok, now im reading this post, and i just go look at hart****'s ebay and all the items bought, and im really blown away!! these people are actually outbidding people on old snowboards, atari games, and worst of all, they have bought a CYCLECRAFT!!
now thats when i draw the line!!! i was feeling bad about the mongoose's and patterson's but they went to the underground with the cyclecraft!! how many people will recognize that bike??? they will be drilling old skateboards to the wall next and that is a crime period!! sorry if i offend anyone with this but i had to get it off my mind!! to pu this in a little perspective here are some numbers:

since September 08th= 26 bikes= $9,150.00 approx.
Ted Carl
FWIW, The TGIF buyers are members of VBMX now, and they are posting on other threads.....

Did we really need another dead horse to whip.....???

[weeping.]
Mr. Smith
And I quote "The TGIF buyers are members of VBMX now"

This was a corperate patronizing scam ! Other wise the would have been members and not just are now members.

I'll flog that deadhorse thank you. They can't buy what isn't for sale !!! My collection ! ROB

Besides my idea that Huntcart should target vintage road bikes. leaving OS BMX alone.
I have something else........I would never sell a complete OS bike it would be split up F/F sold seperatly to every other part,I think collectively more money to be made selling this way. Huntcart can then hang up a pair of DX levers.
G-Flash
Someone should alert their local news to see if they would run the story ! Notice how the buy complete bikes? They don't even build! Wow such a love for the hobby! Lets do one better than welcome them here lets have a parade for them at rockford! We will give them an award and Ken Pliska can be the presenter.

My only point was....We sure don't need another separate thread on it.....let this one die........there are still 4 others left going....post it where they are posting......which isn't on this thread. I wasn't nominating them for president of VBMX or anything. I just think 5 threads on the same topic is silly. Let this one fall off the bottom.
n2o
tomknox, I hope you have enough sense to go back and edit your opening remark. I'm sure huntcart will really want to stick around and become a valuable VBMX member after seeing how you altered her name.........truly tasteless. If I were her I'd start screwing EVERY frickin' bike to the wall with twice as many screws now.

i'm not the collector that most people on this board are.

there was only once where i chased a guy down at 7 a.m. in my car for about a 1.5 mile trip. the chase resulted in me getting an o.m. flyer framset for a good price. this is the wildest thing i have done.

i may not value the bikes themselves as much as the memories, but what i have learned is this:

these bikes are still out there.

i'd bet there are at least 3 times as many "lost jewels" as there are collectors.

my point:

get a prescription for some prozac.

tgif paid for the bikes, if they drive a railroad tie stake through the frame, who cares.

i'd be curious to know the average total of people that go to a tgif in a 12 hour period, and how many of those people that actually give a flying fock about the bmx bike on the wall. i'd also be curious to know which was more important to them, that stretch armstrong was epoxied to the wall, or the memory of it.

they are targeting the 80's kid. not with just the bikes, but with all the other crap on the wall.
agentheinz
Two things: 1) care is being taken (because of VBMXers' actions!) to not harm the bikes from here on in. 2) These apparently will be auctioned off when the chain is done with them. That's a lot better than the alternatives.
rick
If I buy a bike off ebay it's reallly none of your business what I decide to do with it.
jthomas68
Michelle has already said she issued a letter that they will not be drilled anymore. They will be hung in a manner that will not destroy them, and they will never be destroyed if the restauruant closes.I'd venture to say there is a collector of every type of item on the walls.I'm sure somewhere there is an antique bugle board complaining about the same things.
Elvis
It's better we start a new thread on this than append to one of the other million or so threads on this subject.

We need a "Freak out about TGI Fridays" forum

Oh my goodness!! Now they made me mad too!!!...wait did you say Cyclecraft? I thought you meant Cyclepro, no great loss then
puddleduck
This one is just like going to Rockford, I would hate to see the holes drilled through a frame. I do not own the bike so what the new owner does with it is thier decisions.

Think of how cool it is to go to TGIF and see an old bmx on the wall in any shape. How many memories does it bring back? This is what I believe they are trying to do with all the decorations on the walls.

jthomas68 said it best, "there is a collector of every item on the wall". You bet.

Thanks TGIF for preserving some history and I do not have a facility where I live but if you put one in Marion, or Carbondale, IL I will quit going to Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays and O'Charlies as much. We need you here and I would be happy to "lend" permanantly a bike to the wall for a beverage... I will stop by the nearest TGIF on my next travels... and welcome to the site Michelle.
Randy
With all the TGIF talk and the added use of certain words, specifically "drilled" & "hung" I find myself having total internet satisfaction at one single website. Thank you.

TGIF***, thats clever. Not suprised you thought of it first.

he forgot Flinger's and Chachkies.

I think Rick made the best point here - Huntcart wins auctions and obtains bikes. They are HERS to do with how she wants. She can stick them in her butt sideways if she wants. If you guys are that concerned, troll the auctions and snipe her.
It's obvious at this point that she realizes that there is more value hidden in these old bikes than she first thought, and she has taken steps to see that they are mounted in such a way that they are not damaged. If she still makes you guys angry, snipe her auctions and "rescue" the bikes she wants.
The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to me to display these bikes where they can be seen and appreciated. That sure ain't happening with them all hoarded in y'alls garages, sheds and basements...
Mike Corvin
oh, and I have to agree w/ n2o - tomknox, re-spelling huntcart in such a creative fashion is boorish, tasteless, and, contrary to what you may think, is NOT witty or cute.
Regardless of why, she is a member of our site now, try to have a little respect?
jerry a hutcher
yea very little respect!!!they only joined after they got some e-mails from upset members.....
Screw them!!!
If TGIF wants to rekindel bmx memories...Hang pictures not bikes..its cheaper too....
Mike Welsh
that's tuna not tune TONE.......tuna piano but you can't tuna fish..... .........well I'm sure the aforementioned restaurant chain is very happy with the countless threads, about their chain, growing exponentially.......their plan is working....

.....GOOD GRIEF!.....I had to really search hard to find which one of these bla bla bla bla threads I just posted on.....Just on page one of these forums there are 10 Threads with reference to the aforementioned restaurant chain!!!..... .....I'm frightened.....are aliens and their giant alien-machines going to start coming out of the ground and wasting everything in site?...

But - they did join. And the feedback they got from members has changed the way the bikes are hung on the walls.
I'm starting to think that some of you guys are a little jealous. What, does your local TGIF have better bikes than yours or something?
I'm also starting to think that a restaurant wall is a better place for them than gathering dust in y'alls houses...
How many of you are here cause you just collect bikes?
How many of you are here cause you actually RACED bmx back in the day?
For me, it's about fond memories and hooking up w/ old friends. Not about hoarding bikes and parts.
TONE
mike............
maybe you need to go back and read my responses. im bored solid with all this c-rap.

yet everytime i turn around theres more posts about it. so screw it, i will talk all day everyday about tgif. maybe then the boring people will get it.
Mike Welsh

wait, wait, wait.....................

Mike Welsh
.......oh man....alright TONE....I'll be something else ....just give me some time to figure it out alright?.......hey TONE, what's your take on Wendy's decor and, do you like their burgers?

"How many of you are here cause you just collect bikes?
How many of you are here cause you actually RACED bmx back in the day?"

My new job? Pointing out snobbery, as seen above.

I'm offended and I want a month long holiday to celebrate it.

I'm going to call it, "People who own, collect, restore, or "hoard" BMX bikes that never raced in a sanctioned racing organization freedom to eat at TGIF w/o remorse month." We'll celebrate every 4th Friday of March by screwing a different bike to a TGIF wall.

Should be a big hit.

uh guys, who cares if they put a hole in the thing ? it can be repaired. as long as there are guys like rod, who does fantastic work by the way, who have the skills to repair them it really doesnt matter, does it? i dont mean to offend anyone. if i do, i apologize i dont mean to. its just that if its broken, most times it can be fixed.
Mike Corvin
If that's snobbery to you, then I guess you can call me snob. As a matter of fact, just go ahead and call me a BIG snob. Because I have things WAY more valuable than bikes or parts from a earlier era - I have MEMORIES and EXPERIENCES from a earlier era.
Like I said in the earlier post, (which it seems you did'nt finish reading) it's not about material things for me. It's more about good times and old friends.
Some of you hardcore "collectors" out there are starting to really amuse me...
Mike Corvin
You can have a month off if it will make you feel better...
