Hey Guys I Finally finished my ZF model DG,thanks to Rod Miles for selling me the F/F and wheels.This bike was built like I would have BITD with lower end parts, tange forks one piece cranks Wald bars,you get the idea. Anyways I hope you like it.

I was hoping this project would be done by today - the thirty year anniversary of my first DG purchase, but I swung by the powder coaters and they still hadn't gotten to my frame, so I'm just gonna' post the "before" pics for now.




The frame is getting powdered yellow and the parts are getting anodized or re-anodized blue. It's gonna' look exactly like my old DG, but with all the parts I really wanted on it back then. Hopefully the finished photos will follow soon.

How about it? Anyone know if DG was still spittin' out ZF's in 1982? If my memory serves I bought my ZF from Jim Betts and he seemed to think it was a 1982. The serial number is 28075 if that makes any difference at all!

Byron Friday left DG in either late 80' or early 81'.
He moved from San Diego back to "the Valley" aka North Los Angeles / Van Nuys
and stared racing for Scorpion.
I remember seeing Jim Wallace racing for DG in 81'.
By 82' I think DG/ Green Duck owner Ed Smith closed it's doors. But I'm not 100% positive.

Well, the beast is nearly complete. A few parts are still being anodized, but once they arrive the final build will begin. I can't wait that long, so here's another pic of where she is at now.



After pert near 30 years of thinking about it, I've almost got my old bike back - with sicker parts!

Thanks Jim! Its age is a bit of a mystery. When I bought it I was told it was an '82 ZF, but that is very unlikely, so it's probably an '80 or '81. However, it's being built to look like the bike I had in '79, but with the boutique parts list that I never had - dura ace cranks, bullseye hubs & BB, & Reedy pedals. So in a way, yeah, it's a '79.

is your top tube 17 1/2in or 19 1/2in?

It's definitely a ZF if'n that's what yer wonderin'. The top tube measures 19.5. I was told it was an '82, but it must be an '80 or an '81.

Aug 1978 55th frame of that lot. you need the black with prizm logo head tube decal. weigh the frame by itself and we can narrow down what model it is.
