More DG stuff!!! name the frame!!
BenOr
That frame had to be built by the same guy who built the early Powerlites... I mean Peddlepower frames. That frame is so cool. Was Johnson Engineering involved?

Sweet display and as they say "That is art!" Looks like the entry way to Jeff Bottema's house circa 1976.
Kevin Harlow
Ben Or,

Did you know that DG made a monoshock BMX frame before Chuck came on board with the webco style frames that Jeff and Stu rode? They were fabricated by Pete Wilkins of Pro-Fab, all were 4130 chrome moly, painted orange and all had a coil over shock with absloutely no rebound damping. Less than 50 were made. Ever run across one of those?

Kevin
BenOr
I have never heard that. Pictures please! I bet you have some great shots of the place from when you were a kid. A picture of the bike would be totally great. Pre Chuck, was there a team?

TIM has a new goal.....
Kevin Harlow
Man Ben, I got zero, zippo, nada! Sorry. Whodda' thunk back in '74 we would still be talking about those bikes 30 years later. I'm ashamed to say that I don't even have an old D.G. sticker. Oh the things you take for granted.....................

Kevin
Kevin Harlow
Oh, in the midst of my grief, I almost forgot. To answer your question. No, there was no BMX team until Chuck came on board.

BenOr
The Skibel Frame looks like a Cruiser on him!
JimBetts
Hey CK, that's not my brother; he's just a little guy who wanted to ride my brothers bike that day. A decent shot of my brothers bike though.

Ok, I'll post some of my pics...
JimBetts
Most of these were taken at the Central California Bicycle Raceway (CCBR), better known as the Morris Track in Bakersfield CA; either 1976 or 77.

JimBetts
Here's a couple more...

Bob -

What's with the reverse color DG helmet and Jersey towards the top? Yellow Center and Blue edge on the helmet plus a blue body jersey. Bottema's first electro was similar. But have never seen the Blue body jersey.

DG RULES!
JimBetts
There is one photo I posted that shows reverse colors, we're wearing normal DG gear, the photographer did something with the photo to reversed the colors...
cornfed
Does Bottema look pro in that picture, or what?!

Check the matching JT "Sinsalo" rockgaurd and gloves....bubble visors rule!!
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Is it possible that #103x is Lil' Robert Emrich and #5 is Doozer Trevino?

Bottema was wearing the same uni (with blue Bubble) in Aug 1978. Likely a 78 race.

Skibel had 103x on his plate when he was on BMXA (2/78 issue).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dave, sorry, I do not know much about the early "Green Duck" bikes. I did not see one that resembled a Laguna. However, I rode for them in '81 and we completely re-designed their "Vulcan" cruiser with shorter chainstays, higher BB and steeper head angle.

3 Generations of 26" DG's:

Laguna Crusier version (in the catalog)
Vulcan (Mini Gusset and the odd supports)
Loop tail (new style gusset and like the 24" version)
oc dave
Vulcan first then the looptail? My 79 catalog shows the Laguna model and I was wondering when the looptail appeared.thanx for the info.
BenOr
1981 when they did the redesign. Vulcan was between the two. It was strange to me as it has the same Gusset as the Mini DG frames and reverted back to the old logo in the gusset.

Does anybody have any og the gold prism dg stickers for the gusset or ? or know where i can find some ..?

jodyc
BenOr
JP and I have gold prism material. The DG California Pro used solid gold, not prism.
