Justin Shepard
Tim
You still holdin' a grudge

I think it is time to let it go man

Rusty Cable did the same to me once. Come to think of i t, I think I did it to a few people too
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
"I think it is time to let it go man"

I always raced clean...just ask Mark Lopez!
The Loper
Yeah Gabriel..........like that time you tried to take me out in the last turn in Meridan CT.? I was so ****ed you took me from 1st to 3rd 50 ft. before the finish that I took my third place trophy and smashed it over a metal garbage can!
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger

.....WHERE IS THE LOVE?
Relax Johnny, we saw each other, and so much BITD, there is nothing but love!
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
"...I have a request for the 1985 NBL 13 and under cruiser results."

Cool! Do you have the 14-15 cruiser results from '83?
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Tim,
I found a really good Cool Tool team pic recently I'll dig it up and post it.

I used to have a rivalry with CW's Tony Denham from 1980- 1981. That guy didn't like me at all. Eventually we worked it out. Think he doubled at the 80' ABA Grands and won X at the 80' NBA Grands. He chilled out after I won Rancho DB nats summer of 81'.
cornfed
Tim,
Unfortunately no, I don't. I don't have any papers from '83 at all. I need to take a trip over to my parents house to see what they still have...

Sorry about that!
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
As mentioned in that point standing post... (Even though he's younger than us) I ran into "Changa" Lawan Cunningham a few times in 99' - 2001. He hangs out with Karim Richardson still.

Together, Lawan and I DJed a King Of Dirt jumping contest at the Huntington Beach Ca. pier.

Brian Gass (World champion in our class in 86' I think) hired Lawan and I. Brian is the actual owner of the owner/ man behind the name "King Of Dirt." Billy Griggs, Eric "Big E" Bartoldus (Red Line, Powerlite), and Phil Maxwell (Jag) were the celebrity judges.

Must be all that Californian air doing weird things to y'all heheheheheheehe
Brad Dalbec
Tim,

Here are the national standings from the '83 NBL season.

Brad Dalbec
Here's the rest from '83.

Wow, there's so many names listed that I haven't heard in years... I can't believe how many riders (fast riders, too) in that list pretty much dissapeared after that season...I wonder what the "turnover rate" is is BMX? What's the average membership span or career? I bet it's not more than 4 years. Maybe one of the sanction people could respond?

Look, Brent Romero #1 in 10X... how old was he really? inquiring minds want to know...
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
Thanks Brad!
I never saw that list.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
The black ad white team photo is an ad in an NBL Rule Book. Can't remember the year though. Soon as I find it again, I'll post.
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
"I never saw that list."

Poor Michael Goeddy: He just missed being #1 in Cruiser AND Class!

Tim Gabriel
Jud Ciancio
What's worse is that Michael Goeddy got # 2 behind Tomac the next year and then #2 behind me in 1985. He never could put it together at the Grands. Super fast guy, but I don't think he ever won the Title.
Jud Ciancio
Tim,

My season just ended and I got #2 in 35 and over Expert and #5 in Cruiser. I didn't make the cruiser main. When are you going to make your come-back? It was a ton of fun racing again. I even went to Paris and raced in the World Championships.

There are quite a few old schoolers still racing. I did some battle with Frank Nuccio at the Grands last week. That litte guy flys. Hope you doing well.
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
"Hope you doing well."
Way to go Jud!
I ride every other day on my MTB for at least two hours. I mix up road, XC, and DH. I'm probably faster than ever, but I cannot ride a BMX bike to save my life anymore! I Rode at Plattekill and Snowshoe this year, but am getting bored with DHing....
The Loper
Jud,
Goeddy was nat. # 1 in 12x in the N.B.L. in 1980.
The Loper
And I am pretty sure Liggins was # 2 to Tomac in "84" in 16 cruiser.
Cool-Tool Nat.#1
Hi Mark, I was just talking with Jim Silloway, (my father in law) about you and your dad. I told him about this site, and he said to give a shout out to all you punks! He remembers most all of you....
We reminisced together about the eighties and traveling, and all the great people that were in BMX.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
82' ABA Grands.

Those end-of-the-year standings bring back some memories. Check out how tight the 16x standings were. I think the timing of one's birthday really had a large effect in some classes. I broke my collar bone at the Grands that year and couldn't race my cruiser main and DNQ in 20" (crashed busted collarbone).
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
84' Ame/ ABA Winternationals. Phoenix Az.
Bubba Hayes (SE) #131
Eric Garces (Red Line) #4
Greg Liggins (Hutch)
Timmy Taylor (San Diego) #170
Jon Anderson (Red Line) #15
Kiyomi Waller (San Diego, Co-Torker) #4
#2 no I.D.

I have no idea why they would sometimes shrink down some of their best pics.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
San Jose BMX,
What's your name? I've read some of your posts. How old are you? You raced us in this age bracket? Just curious. My dad used to work for the San Jose Mercury News back in the 60's.

for factory Hutch? He also has an older sister that raced for factory CW.Her name was Debbie Kalsow?
If memory serves me right she was among the top
#5 riders for girls back then?Anyways if any of you

Debbi Kalsow was super duper fast, fastest girl back in the day until cheri elliott came along and made all of us weep!!!!! I remember debbi came and stayed with us for a week or so and we went and raced a wednesday night race at Vineland, against the boys. I felt like i was at a national and the two of us smoked all of the teeneage boys that night! I remember my day telling me that if i raced that fast every weekend, none of the girls would ever beat me, funny huh!!!!
cheers

JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger

I wanted to start running donuts on my grips again.
Brad Dalbec
Yum... the Krispe Kreme kind.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Krispe Kreme.... More like KRISPY CRACK!
I thought Red Bull was bad for you.

Hey Jen,
Byron said he was gonna call your brother Sal
when we talked on Christmas.

WHO GOT THE BEST GATES IN OUR CLASS?

I'd say
1) Todd Henry (Robinson, Mongoose)
2) Rob Eisenberg (Schwinn)
3) Paul Addams (GT)
jen zeuner
That call would make his day!!!!

He still has his old ZF-1 in his garage, all tricked out like the last day he raced it. He's got tons of cool stuff, its his own personal museum of sorts!

Let me know if you need the number!
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
This thread needs to be reborn!
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Well....
almost 7 month later from the last time I said it.... again I repeat...

THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE REBORN!
proff21
I agree with you JJ, I wasn't around here when this thread was alive, but Ive been reading it for an hour now..very cool. where is McDougal these days? didn't he race for cook bros. I seem to recall that. good luck with the rebirth.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Kiyomi Waller (2006 National #1 Elite Master a,k,a, Vet Pro)
saw Kelly McDougall riding motorcycles motocross at some spot
in So Ca. over the last few years.
Said he's recognized him immediately and is a big guy.
I saw him racing for Cook Bros and later Torker.
But McDougall was born in 1967. hahahaha!
