thanks for sharing this photo. This was the first jump in the first straight. It was amazingly tall, but easy to jump.

Hey guys, my name is Todd Cress. I raced with Doug Davis, Billy Griggs, Steve Veltman, Mike King, all those guys. Man, it's been a long time. An old racing aquaintance (rich coles) told me to log on here and check it out. I road for Powerlite back in the day. I grew up and raced out of Kokomo, IN...I'm out in Phoenix, AZ now, but it sure is cool reading all these old stories. Listening to all you guys, makes me want to get back on the bike. Good to be on here.

1985 seems like yesterday. I missed 20 yrs of BMX and came back in 2006. I want to continue until I'm 90 yrs old but having two kids who do not ride or race is making it tough to continue. I got to find a way to get them on the track.

'Todd Cress', never heard of you...OK, that's a lie, I remember you quite well. Nice to see you on this site. You were a fierce competitor and one heck of a nice guy as I recall.

WOW, I MUST SAY I JUST STUMBLED-ON THIS SITE RANDOMLY... BUT OH DID IT BRING BACK SOME OF MY FONDEST MEMORIES.

SEE I WAS ONE OF THE FEW GIRL RACERS BACK THEN (IT WAS 1979-80)

WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TROPHIES FOR THIRD PLACE FINISHERS BACK THEN, WHICH IS WHERE I ALWAYS SEEM TO FINISH

AGAINST MARGO CARO AND ANOTHER GIRL (WHO'S NAME I CAN NOT REMEMBER AT THE MOMENT)

MARGO WOULD ALWAYS FINISH FIRST THE OTHER WOULD TAKE SECOND AND I WOULD FOLLOW IN THIRD

MARGO AND THE OTHER GIRL WERE TIGHT AND PRACTICED TOGETHER

I ON THE OTHER HAND PRACTICED WITH CRAIG SEIBERT AND MICHEAL GOEDDEY

{I STILL HAVE AN OLD NEWS CLIPPING OF THEM FROM WHERE THEY HAD WON IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, ONCE IN AWHILE I LOOK AT IT TO REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD}

IN FACT I RACED CRAIG'S BIKE BECAUSE I DIDN'T OWN A BIKE OF MY OWN AND HIS BIKES WAS SPONSORED BY REDLINE AND STING AT THE TIME

GOD I LOVED THAT TIME IN MY LIFE

I CAME FROM A VERY ABUSIVE HOME AND FOUND SOME PEACE AND SELF DISCIPLINE IN BMX AND SOME REALLY GOOD FRIENDS AT THE TIME

FOR ABOUT TWO YRS UNTIL WE MOVED TO KY IN 81

WELL I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY

EXCEPT TO SAY TY ! TO ALL THE GUYS I RACED WITH BACK THEN AND ESPECIALLY CRAIG

AND THAT I HOPE LIFE TURNED OUT GOOD FOR THEM ALL

WELL I GUESS I AM OUT OF HERE

KUDOS !!!

BY THE WAY I WAS MARY THOMAS BACK THEN, 13-15 YRS OLD, AND WE RACED AND DID A LOT OF PRACTICES AT THE OLD BRIDGE TRACK (UNDER THE BRIDGE) IN ST. CHARLES OR EARTH CITY , MO. WHICH AT THE TIME WAS SAID TO BE ONE OF THE TOUGHEST TRACKS IN THE COUNTRY AND MARGO'S LAST NAME MIGHT NOT BE SPELLED CORRECTLY BUT IN 79 OR 80 SHE WAS #1 IN THE NATION IN GIRLS RAISING FOR THAT AGE GROUP

Todd Cress. Rings a bell! Rich Coles! Never heard of him. Welcome. Lots of people here you would remember. Lots of people still racing. You should come to the regional race in indy at the indoor track in a couple of weeks. There will be lots of people to talk to there, I'm sure.... I'm bringing some old timers with me you would know too. Would love to see your dad again.

How about Sean Speed and Nick Gregory from Cail... Anyone remember them?

I was going to ask if anybody knows about Sean Speed. If I remeber right he had arms that would rival Popeye. He was from Colorado I think. Also don't forget John Copeland from Oklahoma, he rode for Diamond back, then Raleigh.
