Was it Curt Olson there?
Shawn Sheely MN-1
Good guess,

Curt was on the Now Sports team just before this guy - Mosely? Something Mosely...

Where did that come from... waking up brain cells that have been dormant here.

jimmy _in_nc. Thanks for the pics from ocala. I used to do one footed tables over that step in the second straight. I've still got my trophys from that track. .It's still there you know . Jump and all.!!!!!!!!!!!!! My boy lochin was just there last week. the tower is still standing.. That has to be the first asfalt turn in fl histery. I loved that track. We are trying to get ahold of the owner to get the track reopened.
Florida Vaughn
Retrodave,

Let us all know how things go with the track......
Jimmy_in_NC
i don't remember when ocala went asphalt. they had asphalt in umatilla, too, but that was after '85 (the track was built around '85). i can't specifically remember any others with asphalt off hand.

Awesome pics! The legend lives on.

sanjosebmx, Ithought #17 was Danny Steplight
COASTY
Cool pics Stu. Funny how the facial expressions don't change over the years or the classic style.
Shawn Sheely MN-1
Nice Stu, on a 20" even...man, I can't even ride one of those any more.

Here's one I took of you in 1979, Denver CO - that's Dave Christensen on the left.

Mosely? Something Mosely...
Hey Shawn, if I remember correctly that Mosely guy was Levander's friend from Burnsville, I was thinking maybe Troy? Good to see you still around, look forward to a MN VintageBMX gathering some time soon...

Glad to see you are feeling better Stu.

Does this mean that you are racing the So. Cal Nats. next month?

Justin Shepard
How about jumping WHILE racing? Me trailing Rusty Cable at North Park PA WOS.
Justin Shepard
I wasn't all that stylish BITD. I am trying to find jumping pics of me. Here is the aftermath of some jumping

I rode my bike home after going OTB. The funny thing was my Dad (who is a lawyer) told me I probably just sprained my wrists. Two days later I go to the doctor. TWO broken arms.

More racing pics

R to L JG GAronzik, ME, Bill Brzenk, Tom Christopher and I can't remember the other guys.

Howell NJ WOS

JAG Worlds

Jersey City Armory ABA Triple Point race L to R Mark Lopez, ME, Chriss Williams

That is enough for now. I have plenty more that I don't want to bore you guys with.

Not boring anyone here mate. I love lookin' at any old school pics. Bring 'em on!
Stu Thomsen
Kevin, I'll be passing on the Bakersfield Nats. Not currently training.
Jim Stinson
Stu, Just curious, what class would you race?
Shawn Sheely MN-1
Keep'm coming guys - love the pics.

Paul,

Good guess - you're thinking Troy Moser, but Mosely was from Burnsville and a freestyler - Moser was a racer, think Torker uniform and a Dad built like Popeye! That's Troy Moser.

There's a MN reunion in the works - Ted has you the list.

Nice to see you here - been a long time.
pquinnbmx
ok, here's the deal. I am 6 foot tall and 315 lbs. and all I ever really want to do is cross-ups. I dream of cross-ups. I probably need to see a shrink. I see a track and all I can think is cross-up. My wife probably wants to divorce me over cross-ups. I even get mad that the kids of today have re-named it to X-up. Viva la Cross-up!
sanjosebmx
Nice pics Justin!

Wish I could X - up Pat

#17 might have been Steplight, we were the same age Frank.

Cool thread guys!

There's hope for you fellas, I just got x-ups down about 2 months ago

Shawn Sheely MN-1
Sweet trails!
Jason Chang
X up? I always called it a helicopter. Boy I must be old. And when did a Redline become the Greg Hill tuck. What did you guys call jumps BITD?
Ted Carl
That is an "Interlock", with a bit of a "cross up". A heli was a 360....
COASTY
Thats a sweet x-up Ben. I think I was around in between the transition of helicopter and x-up (crossups in my day). I remember them being called both.
84profile
Hmmm 1985 With all protective equipment...aka my pink polo shirt...Home made track in Canberra Australia...good times...I'm currently in restoring this bike...

COOL PICS GUYS KEEPEM COMING

I've always known a 180 degree turn of the front bars as an x-up. What Ben Baron is doing is a 270 X.

Cross-ups is turning the bars 90 degrees. They're also called Turn-bars today - which I prefer.

EuroTables where laying the bike over and turning the bars 90 degrees so the number plate faced down (normal tables had the plate facing up). I think Capt Kirk Crisco when I think of a great Eurotable. Lots of new school riders do great one-foot euro tables - Mikey Aitken comes to mind on that .

I remember people calling 360's - helicopters. I think that was borrowed a bit from skiing. That is one trick I always wanted to do - if only there was foam pits back then
donb
84profile - that is one large looking jump! Very nice!
84profile
This is what we called a tabletop in Australia, (all though could be a bit flatter) I think this was like 82...Cook Bros, again going all the safety equipment...
84profile
What we called turn downs. Again could have been flatter...
84profile
and the last one we called...about to eat Sh*t face...
Mike Welsh
Awesome Australia pics! Getting some big time air in those! Nice style too!

Thanks dude, oh I forgot to mention, I have quite a few "encouragement" ribbons for my racing efforts (aka 8th place) thus the lack of racing photos ...yeah those ribbons got me some cred bitd..NOT..

Jimmy_in_NC
is/are that those the 401 trails? i might be moving out that way soon. it'll be nice to be near trails that aren't full of water 90% of the time (like the ones in apex)

Here is another I just found of it me on my last bike, 84 Profile

good o
Capt. Nemo
Here is a shot of me racing in about '82. I'm the one with the black tuffs and grey sweat shirt.

Here are a couple of shots of me jumping. The first is around '85-'85. The second is from around '87, and you can't really tell from the photo, but the dirt jump under me is on FIRE
