Billy Patterson
Late 1970's and Early to Mid 1980's

Does Anyone know...
Grady Ingram - Az
Jason Jenson (Torker) - Ca
Dustin Drum (JMC Racing) - Tx
Parnell Haley (Rebel Racing ?) - Tx
Robby Fox - Az
Clark Worth (Blazer Racing) - Tx
Jay Davis (Titan Racing) - Tx
"Big" John Romero (Panda) - Az?
Eddy Siegmund - (Skyway) - Tx

I used to race against these guys and many more during many NBL, ABA, USBA and NBA Nationals over my many Years in BMX...
Just wanted to see if they remember me and what they are up to?
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
I remember Jensen, Drumm, Haley, Romero, and Siegmund. Unfortunately, haven't heard a word about any of them at all since the early/ mid 80's.

Are you the same Billy Patterson who got the full page black and white pic in BMX Plus around 79' or 80'? There was a Billy Patterson in a Patterson uniform. The caption said something like "can't se the track through all the people" or something like that. I'm going off of memory here. Are you a younger brother or a relative to Brent and Brian Patterson?

I was always curious about that pic and never asked.
Billy Patterson
Yeah, thats me. No Relation to Brent or Brian.
But did ride Patterson Frames and knew them.
That pic was taken at the 1980 ABA Grands in Las Vegas, Nv - Funny, I thought I was the only person who remembers when they had the grands in Vegas.
I went to Both of them.
I still have copies, of that magazine and others I was in. Too Funny.

Billy Griggs among numerous others.I beat them
all!LOL.My best memory from racing was winning
the 1980or 81 Gold cup race in chandler,AZ.Kyle,Doug,Billy and im not sure if JJ

Eddy Siegmond is the only one from your list that rings a bell. I knew most of the Rebel Racing guys from Texas (Racer Yoemans, et.al.). I believe Eddy's father passed away a few years ago.

I read something about Jensen and Torker. I think they used him in an add without his consent and I don't think it flew to well with ol' Juicy Jaws Jason..
Other than that I haven't seen him on here anyway. I saw him on LA about 10 years ago.

I knew Parnell Haley,Eddie Seigmond and Jay Davis BITD. Parnell and Jay lived in San Antonio and Eddie lived up in Austin.Jay used use to run around with another 14-15 yr old guy name Ricky Davis who rode for Powerlite. They were always getting into trouble and good for a good prank or two.LOL You really had to watch you back some weekends. I was 2 or 3 yrs. older then they were so when they messed with me and a couple of guys in my class we would always get on the same gates they did during practice.
We chased them all over the track and over many a berm. They were all quick and the 14x class at the local tracks around 84 was full of talent. It was a tough class and alway put some of the best races of the weekend.
peace,brett - Tex4 81-86

Anyone remember that guy from Austin that rode the Panda that was a couple bricks short of a load? He talked 100 mph and was always fun to rave against when the DFW guys came in Ausitn circa 1980.

I raced Eddie Seigmond at a couple of the East Coast ABA Nats in 84 or 85 (14x I think), he just switched from Skyway to Titan, but was still rockin the graphite Tuffs. Super nice guy (kid), and super fast...class act

I remember the article on you Billy. Yet another "jostled memory from the cobwebs"!

I remember because in a way, it was a "groaner" of sorts, in that it was already tough enough to keep it straight bitd with Brent Patterson, and Brian Patterson (which was which), and the fact that Andy was not a brother, but was always another Patterson hanging with Ronnie (In Skyway duds) in the same tents. And now there would be a Billy Patterson, who was not another brother, but another Patterson, among Patterson's none the less!....

It was one of those subjects that many of us loathed to explain to grandparents, and parents, at the races when they would start asking questions! lol

...Are Brian, Brent, Andy, and Billy all related?.....No Grandma, ....Brian and.....

Welcome Billy.

they still talk about eddie siegmund around here in austin, somebody told me he races stock cars or something? he's still around here.

Bring this thread back from the dead.
Old School BMXerFox...

Your Brother and I regularly got it on when we made the trip to natl's and events in Az...

Everyone, It's so awesome to swap stories and such from the past...what good times were had by all!!!

Mark 'Gonzo' Summers - could that have been Steve Hayes? I Dunno. I just looked that the ABA Vet Pro Standings and who's mentioned in there: Cody Smart!! I remember him being from Houston. Did anyone know that Randy Spangler is a huge name in the Freeride scene? I couldnt believe it. I'd like to touch base with him and say hello. he may or may not remember me...
Mark 'Gonzo' Summers
Steve Haynes was a skinny guy from the Lufkin area. Looking at him you would never think he was fast, but he was. Back when I was chasing ABA pioints circa 1979, we would drive to Lufkin from Dallas on Friday nights to race. One year, I finished one freaking point behind Gary Greene (3 vs 4). You probably remember him.

Keep thinking about the guy I am trying to remember. I suspect he would be about 42 years old now. Any other Austin area guys you remember whow would be my age now (44ish).

I talked to Eddie Siegmund the other day... he is involved in thunder hill raceway { auto raceway} in kyle, tx. But, they have a junior racers club right on the car track and they have tons of kids race around the track in front of the crowd on bikes, some BMX bikes. Way to go!! check them out, number plates and all. I wonder if Eddie had anything to do with that?? click here

Eddie has been talking with us at ABA. He's planning on building an ABA track on the inside of the race oval. He's pretty excited about the project, and so are we.
Billy Patterson
Who is this Thumperpilot? Tell B.A. Anderson to chime in on this site. He's an old friend of many of us from Texas since his family ran the Lone Star BMX Track for a few years with the Chankin family.
Here is a pic of Eddie and I. Circa 1978-79ish...
Enjoy! Austin BMX - VFW

JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Hey Billy! Got any pics of you when you were on Patterson? Yeah Shannon Gillette is the real deal.
JRA Kids Club
Evening All.. This is Aaron.. the founder of the Junior Racers of America (JRA) Kids Club... I know Eddie pretty well, he is one of the staff members at the race track, and has shared his visions for the ABA track.

We had a blast last year with the bike races that we put on!! we had nearly 100 different kids compete in 5 different race dates. Age 3 to 16 all participated...

And the BMX bikes usually beat the shifter bikes...
