I am a total noob here, but was drawn in from all of Porkchop's posts on Facebook. I mostly build rat rod bikes and tall bikes but I am into all types of bikes. I have but 1 frame that is eligible for this build off and I am going with it. 1988(?) Mongoose Decade. The bike starts off with some serious issues as someone hacked off the under seat frame stander thingy. I have some repair welding to do.

Here it is when I got it home, I gave $20 or $30 for the bike:

Here is the damage I need to deal with:

Hope I can be welcome here.

That is completely bizarre. Sometimes you just have to shake your head at the stuff people do... and to what purpose?

I can't wait to see how you save this poor old Goose.

WOW...I'm looking at this pic and trying to think what possible reason would they would do that...I got it! They were pigeon-toed and kept smashing their knees !! lol That's real weird and will need some serious welding exp!

Hopefully I can build a step on it that resembles the original, I have photos.

Interestingly if someone hadn't cut it like that then this bike wouldn't have been mine. I kept seeing it in a CL ad for a bicycle Co-op in Greenville, NC, it was hanging on the wall. They were having a "no bike over $50" sale and I e-mailed to ask if that included the one hanging on the wall. They explained that they had only hung it there as decoration because they couldn't fix it and give it to a kid with the possibility of someone being impaled on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) So I got it.
