Hutch produced complete bikes from 1980 to 1991 and is considered one of the most collectible and sought after BMX brands of all time. These years are heralded by many as the golden years for BMX. In this spirit, PorkchopBMX.com, Hutch BMX, and VintageBMX.com are sponsoring a build off to celebrate those years - the golden years. Now is your chance to take one more trip back to the eighties and relive those times by building a bike in celebration.

Rules
This build off will run from June 20th to mid-September (see timeline and dates below) and consist of three forum posts. This announcement and comments thread, a submission thread (open for two weeks) and the voting thread (open for one week). This is a drama free build off. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

1. Open to all VBMX members registered on or before 11:59 PM PDT Saturday, September 8th, 2012
2. Open to any brand 20" BMX bicycle, any model frame dated 1980-1991
3. You must build the bike from the frame up during the build off. No survivors or already built bikes may be entered. Violators caught breaking this rule will have all bikes entered disqualified.
4. You may enter multiple bikes but only one may win 1st, 2nd or 3rd - the bike with the most votes gets counted.
5. Entry deadline: None - all may build, all may enter right up to the final submission deadline of September 8th, 2012.
6. Submissions: Saturday, August 25th through 11:59 PM PDT Saturday, September 8th 2012 (a two week window)
- Post between one and four pictures of your entry in the submissions post
Note: if you post more than four your fifth and subsequent pictures will be removed, however, a link to supplemental pictures in another build thread is okay. Remember, the quality of your photos have a huge impact on the number of votes you receive.
- Submission post: http://www.vintagebmx.com/community/index....wtopic=27063100
6. Voting: Sunday, September 9th through 11:59 PM PDT Sunday, September 16th, 2012 (a one week window)
- All VBMX members registered before September 8th, 2012 may vote once (whether or not entered in this build off)
- voters will cast three votes in no particular order - each vote will count as one point
- No voting for your own bike
- Voting post: http://www.vintagebmx.com/community/index....wtopic=27063240
7. Results will be posted in the voting thread by Monday, September 17th, 2012

Prizes
1st place: $250 store credit at PorkchopBMX.com AND $250 CASH from VintageBMX.com
2nd place: $100 store credit at PorkchopBMX.com AND $100 CASH from VintageBMX.com
3rd place: $50 store credit at PorkchopBMX.com AND $50 CASH from VintageBMX.com

Porkchop's Chop Saw Choice: $100 store credit at PorkchopBMX.com for Porkchop's favorite build that uses a Chop Saw chainring, chainwheel, spider, or power disc.

Bonus
PorkchopBMX.com and Hutch BMX have teamed up to build a gorgeous early 80's Hutch Pro Racer complete with only the highest quality parts, including many of the new Hutch parts such as Aerospeed cranks and powerdisc, deep H stem, donut seat clamp, Hutch Kashimax Aero seat as well as Porkchop items as such as their shinyside rims, Dia-Compe brakes, etc. Thousands of dollars have been invested in this bike and it can be yours just for participating in this build off!
Each completed non-Hutch bike entered will be assigned one number or you can double your chances to win by entering a Hutch (each Hutch bike entered will be assigned two numbers). Once judging of the build off has ended and winners are announced, within 24 hours, Porkchop BMX will use Random.org to choose a number randomly from all completed entries to award the Hutch Pro Racer. The drawing will be videoed and promptly posted on YouTube. The winner will be shipped, at Porkchop BMX's expense, the Hutch Pro Racer via USPS to their address (anywhere in the world).

Add your before pics (not required), comments and progress pictures to this post starting now. Hurry, we aren't getting any younger!

Disclaimer: Any photos you post in the comments thread and submission thread may be used by Porkchop BMX, Hutch BMX, and Vintage BMX and therefore, posting of any photos is implied permission for these three companies to have unrestricted use of your photos for promotional purposes.

I think 79 and earlier was the bronze age. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Maybe for the next build off?

A Hutch right out of the starting gate - awesome! Glad you're not setting the bar too high... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

84 Kuwi - nice choice!

I was all set to play with a vintage Goose I've been sitting on for two years. Thought it was an '80 but just discovered it's a '78. Checking my inventory now for my next best candidate.

I've been sitting on a few projects for awhile now. Looks like a good reason to build. I'm in.

...maybe even mock up my pro racer just for a couple entries to win the porkchop racer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)
