The reason the women's purse is five thousand dollars is because Carley Young made it happen.
To the poster who is whining about the women being "slower" (and I presume less deserving, in his biased view), I say this: get off your a$$ and go hustle up some sponsors like she did. With events like this and the girls' clinics she puts on, Carley does more (on the grassroots level especially)for the girls and women in this sport than any other pro I can think of. We are lucky to have her as part of our world.
I am really excited that we have so many supporters for this July 1st event! I really appreciate your kind work Meredith about Carley. None of this can be possible without the amazing volunteers we have had and all the generous donations we have received so far. We knew having this pro\am was going to raise eyebrows but you know sometimes you gotta make a statement to prove a point. We have a good roster of ladies coming to this pro am so bring your favorite photo because they will be there to sign them! This event isn't only about the large amount payouts remember Pro\Am races are designed to let amateurs bump elbows with the pros. This is a huge confidence booster for the fast ladies we have in the area who may have what it takes to go home with the big check because remember ANYTHING can happen inthe main event! Gastonia BMX welcomes the 1st Mid-Atlantic Pro\Am to out opening day with open arms and we know this event is going to be very successful.
Please RSVP to out event page so we can properly plan this event!
