A good friend and Bmxer took his own life today. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. God speed my friend!

What? Travis always seemed like he was in good spirits at the track when I would talk to him. I know he was recently married and had a new baby on the way no? Tragic for his wife (or girlfriend if not married) and newborn (or unborn) child. It's definitely tragic, but a very selfish way out of things. Prayers to his family and close friends for sure. I'm sorry to hear this.

He has a young daughter who used to race I always admired him cheering her on. Seemed like a good dad. I didn't know Travis very well but I raced him a few times and he was always nice to me.

I'm very sorry to hear this.

True, but we never know what is going on just beneath the surface with people. Irrational choices sometimes make sense to irrational minds.

Very true, but usually with friends, family and other loved ones around it's enough to make you think twice. Well, to most anyway. Tragic regardless.

The wife of my children's pediatrician's wife killed herself. From all appearances she had a good life but she attempted suicide a few times and was eventually successful. It's hard to understand...especially when kids are involved. I've gone through periods of life where I wished I'd never been born but I've never seriously wanted to die. Like Motoman said, 'permanent solution to a temporary problem'.

I just feel so sad for him and those he was close to.
