Road clips vs regular SPD's

Yeah I crank them straight up as soon as I get them out of the box, never kept them though straight in the bin, most of the time they just round the head of the screw trying to crank em up, my mate just snapped the tension spring in his xtr peddles

Has anyone ever thought that it's your foot position that is causing your foot to come out? Cranking down on the spring is never a good idea for the spring.

I agree, I run mine extremely loose and have never had a problem coming unclipped. Friends that ride my bike are always amazed that I stay clipped in. If you don't twist your feet, even the loosest tension setting will hold your foot to the pedal.
