It looks like 32 Elites made the trip to Hong Kong for the UCI Continental Championships (Class 3).
The podium was van der Biezen, Brethauer (Germany), and van Gorkom; Germany's Baier was in the main as well.
That's some good points for the Dutch and Germans and Germany needed them, sitting a couple places out of qualifying in 13th (UCI Nations Points).

Alexis Vergara was there but went out in semis.
I'm pretty sure Danny C was there but can find how he did.

Wow, that's points for Germany, Italy, and Ecuador.
It will come down to the wire for that 11th spot and one Olympic qualification spot (via UCI Nations points).

Hmmm, Danny C is still coming up as USA, but chatting with him in Oldsmar he said he was now Philippines.
He said that the USA agreed to release him and Philippines accepted him, but it might still be up for approval by the International Olympic Committee.

Don't sell yourself short; with hard work and dedication you could be a better Carl than me.

John, that is weird, should have been a typo. Typically cat 6 races are the ones you can only race and get points for in your own country

Anybody should be able to race Class 3 races (at least in BMX).
Up until this year the Asian federation had kept their Class 3 race closed to anyone from outside Asia (based on Road Bike rules), but they were forced to open it this year.

Carl you may or may not be the all knowing guru of UCI qualifications, but if someone were to ask a question on the matter Id send em your way LOL. Would be cool to do a storyline build up on what races some people would HAVE to do well at to keep their hopes alive. In this case Danny C, obviously a talented kid. Is starting a points run 3,4,5 months out going to be enough to clinch a spot via points, or does someone in his shoes hope to get close enough to get a selection nod, is their even wildcard selections? I would think if John Quimby from Aruba wins the Worlds and blows the doors off the elite crowd he could get a pass into the olympics on that feat alone? Possible?
