This is an og race bike raced by Scott Long.
He had it up for sale here on vintage a few months ago and I bought it.

I did changed a few items to more era correct items.
And items w/ nicer deeper anno blue to help accent the beauti of the F/F/bar/stem set up.

You'll find my pics ain't professional by any means. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Parts list as follows :

'80-'81 Thruster Tripower F/F/bars and stem
NOS decals added, supplied by Scott
Araya 7b's (og) laced to Sunshine sealed 1st gen hubs w/ NOS Asahi spokes (added)
MX3 headset og to the F/F
Campy cranks w/ YST sealed BB
KKT Lightning pedals og
Shimano DX rear brake NOS w/ Scott Mathauser pads
Shimano pre bent lever NOS *note the correct Shimano cable end !
Oury grips
Kashimax aero seat NOS
Schwinn seat post clamp
Comp III 20 X 1.5 rainbows
Sedis chain
Dia Compe cable strap

This bike was kept spotless by Scott so I really didn't need to clean it much if any.
Very rarely do you find the Thruster bars and stem...let alone a F/F in this condition.
I have seen maybe 5 of these stems in 10 years collecting.
I believe I placed the incorrect headtube decal on ... it's ok I have the other one as well.
As well I didn't install the handlebar decal.
All good things take time and all of my bikes are works in progress.
This is probably my favorite piece in my collection.

Scott if you are reading thank you once again. I sincerely appreciate the deal.

As far as I'm concerned this is still your bike it's just in my museum and I'm the curator.

So for all those who say vintage's for sale section has nothing to offer ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
It's not the fs section that makes the site it's the people here ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

BTW .... NOT FOR SALE !!! Please do not ask.

Rob

Love The Tri-Power. One thing that always stood out was the quality of Thruster's welds. Speed Unlimited favricated these, right? Also, those hubs are sweet. They are probably my third favorite old school hub and the ones I had BITD spun so nice. Congrats on the ride.

^ ^ ^

Thank you.

That's quite a compilment coming from a senior member like yourself.

Scott's bike was mostly there and spotless.

She just needed a few highend era correct pieces added.

The previous hubs were mismatched one 80's one 90's.
The previous cranks were '90's Dura Ace 165's.

And he had a Uni hammerhead seat / post combo in black on it as well.
His once blue MX1000 was faded really hard almost to straight silver w/ only a hint of blue left.

In the last 2-3 years my collection has added some real highend pieces and this is by far my favorite as far as completeness and originality. Plus it was his sponsered bike from bitd.

Thanks be to Scott for taking such excellant care of it all these years.

It was the cleanest bike I've ever gotten from someone.

Rob

Rob the bike looks great, you've really giving it the attention it needed. I'm glad it's in the hands of someone that really appreciates it for what it is.

I just picked up a Thruster Tri Power XL myself with that same head tube sticker and a tubular bake bridge from the original owner who raced it. It was never touched but I thought the "T" sticker was for later F/F sets with the "T" stamped brake bridge.

BTW that Thruster looks great with 7B's

LOL mine came with the same MX-3 with the blue stripe
