85 Master sticker color confusion... Options

Hey Guys.

I was thinking about the 85 Haros and was wondering if like the Sport, the Master had two different color schemes for the 85 model year.

If so, can someone direct me to photos of early and late 85's (all colors) indicating to me the differences in the early and late version by the color combinations?

My friend has an 85 Sport I restored for him and it is an early (white) one with the blue and gray color stripes on it. Later ones were (I think) two-tone blue stripes, no gray. Maybe this was a sport-only thing? Maybe a white-bikes only thing?

What month? That is what I call the late color scheme as far as I know- the same colors as my 86.

I was wondering if the early 85's had a different color scheme...

That bike is in nice shape by the way!

I think this was it for '85 and '86, but the '84 (or third gen Freestyler) had the red "Freestyler" script and different chevron stripes. They, like the Freestyler, also had no chainstay platforms.

I have been chatting with C4 Chip on this subject and he pointed me to some picture examples to illustrate what I was asking. They did have two color schemes in 85, confirmed for white and chrome. I am still unsure about the green frames, they may have had only one color scheme (but please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Aha...

So the early ones had the red script like the 84, but just two instead of three chevron stripes. Kind of prefer that scheme myself, but I'm not really pursuing a refin on mine right now...it's my rider!

I gotta get some current pics; now it has 48s, Haro bars and a modded DK stem on it.

I like the red script- it sort of ties back to the early gen 1 bike.

By the same token, by having a face lift mid-year, it kept the bike 'fresh' looking for little money on Haro's part. (stickers are a lot easier to change than paint colors!)

Of course, there is no defined month of switching, so pretty much anything goes...

Pretty sure the green Masters had the red script as well.

Yeah, I think the green bikes had one color scheme throughout the year. Not positive however.
