Am I reading the Grands schedule correctly? They run a full 3 moto transfer with moto 3 on Sunday morning? I just assumed it would be a 2 moto system like the Nationals

You read it correctly. 3 moto transfer. Sunday is a long day if you don't qualify out first or second moto.

It takes roughly 4.5 hours to run the entire estimated 500 motos. Then they run 2nd round and shut down for the night. Round 3 is run in the morning Sunday and it is a looong day if you have to ride round 3. However, if it is a loooong day, it means you got out of motos and progressed to 1/8's, 1/4's, semis or hopefully the main.

One other important difference is the amount or riders that transfer out of the 1st two rounds. SOmetimes it is only 1 rider from a group of say 5 riders so winning the motos matters.

I am guessing/predicting 540 motos.

Keep track of your little ones, especially on Sunday. If they miss any of their semis then it's time to pack it up.

If your little boy or novice girl makes their class main, be prepared for possibly waiting a long time as they usually give out a bunch of awards between cruiser and 5 under novice. Tension is high and it is getting late for the children. By the time they get up to the gate, they could be mentally drained. I remember the 5 and under novices had to wait ON the gate for 30 minutes. Motos are not numbered and we got there so early as to not miss the main. An after thought would have let my son chill in the stands and then have someone get him when it was time.

I wonder how many more riders there will be with the ABA/NBL merger?

I was told the Pro Mains and awards will be run Saturday night this year... anyone know if this is true? That would mean just amateur classes and few awards to give out Sunday.

There are a lot more awards than just the Pros.

All the NAG ones, National winners for both genders and both bikes. Team of the year, etc.

Frankly speaking, most people will be glad not to have more speeches and delays on SUnday.

If making an all-night drive (ie. Atlanta to Ragland, AL to Tulsa) watchout for big deer while driving through the flats of Arkansas, especially when the pedals to the metal in Bunt's freshly painted and stickered dually.
