Well since no one else has asked. Mike what is in store for 2012? I liked the Grass Roots approach of 2011. It was just like hanging out with your buddies back in the day. No pressure, just a fun filled day of buds and bikes. Not to mention the stories.

I liked the grassroots approach as well, but I would not want to do it that way every year. Once every five is probably good...just to mix it up a bit.

For 2012, I am looking to get back to the normal format (Friday evening event, Show on Saturday and banquet/sperker on Saturday night). In fact, I have been working with one of the other members on a great concept for 2012 year, and am looking to make an announcement on format and concept around December 1.

But just know that it's happening, it's going back to the traditional format, and you're definitely going to want to be a part of it.

Also, as an early heads up: The ABA schedule isn't final-and-public yet, so take this with a grain of salt... but early word is that the Midwest national is likely NOT to happen on father's day weekend in 2012, due to the Olympic Trials, which are happening in Chula Vista on the same day.

Same weekend as the USA BMX Midwest Nationals, Rockford, IL

Now I can get on with planning. Look for complete details around Jan 1, but we'll be back to the normal format:


Friday Morning: Site Supporter Breakfast

Friday Afternoon 4PM: Swap Meet

Friday Evening: Chill Session with yet-to-be-named Guest Speaker

Saturday Morning-Afternoon: Bike Show with awards for all classes. Winners transfer to "Best In Show" voting in the evening

Saturday Night: Banquet with Yet-to-be-named Guest Speaker(s)


There will be a theme, which will be announced in January.

There will also be display space given for two "Track Reunions" - Itasca BMX and one other


Looking forward to an awesome July event!

WOW, its been a while since I've been able to go, but that date is very good for me. I think that I'll have to pack up some of my bikes and take a trip to Rockford this year. Hope to see some old friends, and maybe make some new ones. Now how to decide which ones to bring(can't bring them all, sorry). Take suggestions I will. Tommy:)

I haven't been since the first one....
I guess I will finally have to get the Champion Tandem BMX Cruiser put together so I have something to ride there....
Last time around it was on Nik Nikila's screamin yellow Mongoose Sidehack...
