Gt Performer Serial Number

Newbie here with another Gt question: how do you decode a Gt performer serial number. Mine is a yard sale special from the mid-late 90's.

Serial is YC96100935
Gt Custom 4130 cro-mo Main Tube
All chrome frame with black "GT" tri-spoke mag's.

Just wondering what it dates out to. Thanks.

GT serials differ depending on where/when they were built.

yours was built in 1996 in taiwan. depending on exactly when, it could have been either a 1996 or 1997 model.
