I hate to hear this. Good luck on a speedy recovery.

You know, I really don't know why I even talk about these tracks and the training they require. The practical truth as we have seen it played out is quite simple.

At any given point in time there isn't enough of the very top notch Pro's in the world healthy enough to even have a SX race.

There's another thread on here about what would you ask a Pro if you had the chance. I know what my question would be.

"If you could compete for a Gold Medal and earn a good living on a non life and limb threatening track, would you give a hoot in h...ll if you ever saw another SX track?"

If they were truthful, I think I know what the answer would be.

Thanks

Some words i'm getting from people that were there.

As of now, no broken bones and his lung is still operating with full functionality.. I guess fusing it to his rib was a good idea!

He crashed on the triple into turn one md365 says he went from the top of the landing and fell into the turn.

They believe it's just a concussion. I hope so cause he's going to put up some results in SA

That's one of the toughest competitors in the world.

So lets just hope everything is minor compared to what it could be.

Ya, I'm pretty much over watching riders on SX tracks.....too much in my opinion.

I think they can find a happy medium between a SX track and the standard cookie cutter variety. It would still offer challenge and rider longevity.

Klakke that is a good point but there is progression in most all sports except ball sports, same fields that they were 20 years ago. If you watch the X games progression its a good example, that big air event is crazy not sure the size of the gaps but then they hit a huge quarter pipe, its all progression. Heal up quick dR.

In Europe, its a bit different, all the major sports are sports that havent changed for decades..

Anyway, I dont mind progression in bmx at all. I just dont like progression that says ''more extreme more extreme and more extreme''..

Progression is OK. But don't forget that it is very possible to have progression and not improve the things that are really important.

But every time I think of SX the old movie "A Bridge Too Far" comes to mind. If this was necessary to have a successful race it would be one thing. But it isn't necessary.

As far as more and more people signing up, that isn't unusual. You see it in auto racing all the time. Emerson Fittipaldi said once that out of thirty starting drivers 6 are racing and the others are just in the way. Same in BMX SX. Out of all the fodder maybe 10 riders have any business on these tracks. The others are just dreaming and in the way. After all, when Donny Robinson can't stay healthy on this stuff what realistic chance does anyone else have long term?

Bicycles aren't motorcycles and they never will be.

Thanks
