So I understand the moto and main points. Now you get bonus points per every 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, semi... if you make the Main.. So you want to win all of those races now also.. not just play it safe...

you need to 6 challenger perfects to get (5) points, and/ or 6 National perfects for (10) points extra???

and the Participation bonus???

someone better understand that one??

Expert/ Cruiser National Championship Example:

(60) per moto X3 X6= 1080
(100) per Main X6= 600
= 1680

Bonus w/ 16th= 32 points + 1680= 1712 + 10 for perfect= 1722cap points
w/ 8th= 24 +1680= 1704 + 10 for perfect= 1714 " " " "
w/ 1/4's+ 16 +1680= 1696 + 10 for perfect= 1706 " " " "
w/ semi 8 + 1680= 1688 + 10 for perfect= 1698 " " " "

Am I right so far???

Not quite, you could get bonuses on all 6 races, not just one race.

Here is my (incomplete) understanding:

For each race (as an Expert)
3 motos = 3*60 = 180
1 Main = 100
16th+8th+Q+S = 4*8 = 32
Perfect = 10
Race total = 322
6 Races before Grands = 6*322 = 1932

Participation:
5 locals = 5
5 regionals = 10
5 nationals = 15
Cap showing up at Grands= 1932+5+10+15=1963

Then add points at Grands...
at most 322 + Grands Bonus of 40 = 362
Total after Grands: 1962+362=2324

But that does not account for the second from last column. I am not sure what that column is about.
And of course that maximum is not really reachable as it would require finding 6 races with 1/16th... and then going perfect at them.

I thought that could be the way the bonus main column worked at first, but it doesn't make sense: in that case you could just say that the main points are
1 => 120
2 => 108
3 => 96
4 => 84
5 => 72
6 => 60
7 => 53
8 => 46

What would be the point of separating both columns.
But then again you may well be right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Here is my understanding so far:

You get moto points. You get the 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, semi and main bonus points for each National or Challenge series race in which you participated in those rounds and transferred to the main.
Your six best Nationals, or a combination of your best Nationals and 1 or 2 Challenge series finishes can be used depending on your class. This is almost just like it was last year with the exception that some classes can only use one challenge series race in their total points.
You get 5 pefect bonus points for every Challenge series perfect and 10 bonus points for every National series race you perfect at, but you can only count a combined maximum of six (same as the maximum races that count towards your total). It may have been assumed by the NBL that your perfects would be your high points races. It is possible to get more points at a large race and not perfect, than perfecting at a smaller race with no 1/8, 1/4 or semi round bonus points. So, are your bonus perfect points awarded only as inclusive to your perfect race point total, or are they awarded seperately? It is not clearly stated and needs to be.
Participation points are kind of self explanatory. However, there are riders who have received points for just pre registering and not acutally participating in the races. This is the final area that needs clarification to me.

I heard Stephen Hawking is working on a patent for his "New NBL Points" calculator. Screw all the quantum physics, space folding, anti matter, "God particle" study. This is priority one!!!
