I attended an awesome race in England this weekend.
It's called the Bob Fields Grands and is a memorial event for one of the godfather's of UK BMX.
There is this kid named Paddy Sharrock and at 13 (11; read edit below) years old he is amazing.

He rides for Shanaze Reade's team and I love watching him ride.
The above photo is in a moto over the pro section doubles; one of three times he did it (along with x-ups and toboggans); also note that none of the competition is taking the big doubles (oh, and he's on flats).

Oh, and Stephen Murray came over from the States and hung out all afternoon, taking photos with everybody.

Please don't come on this thread and say you know a radder 13 year old; I'm not really trying to compare him, just saying he is RAD!!

<edit>
I was informed by my UK colleague that Paddy is, in fact, 11 years old, but he races up with the 13s at the Nationals (I just read the national standings and assumed he was 13). Even more amazing

Its gets better... Paddy is actually 11. He just races up in the 13 year olds!! What he will be like at 16/17 is just unbelievable, like a British Chase Hawk for sure. From a very young age he has hung out with older riders (his dad rides trails) and combining his natural talent with the environment he rides in, you are looking at a very talented young man. He also just did a TV show for kids in the UK that went out nationally on prime time kids viewing.

Trails, parks and tracks, he shreds em' all!! On the track he has the skills and track awareness of guys twice his age and will literally ride round the pack to get to the front. You can see him planning moves two corners ahead, its brilliant.

Keep an eye open for 'Paddy Cool', you will definitely hear this kids name again in the future!!

All he needs is a JMC uniform and a white bike and he'd be Harry Leary, ready to go on the cover of BMXA. cept I think he's more clicked than Harry was.

And what, he won the race too, right?

Awesome!!

Mike,
Yeah, he won by a whole straight. He doesn't win every national, though, because his gates are inconsistent. I don't care, though; he's still my favorite rider over here.

John,
You should come over on vacation and check out some of the tracks, riders, and how the club system works over here (a hybrid model could be the future for USA BMX as it could provide more kids, teach them the fundamentals, and keep them in longer).

There's a bunch of UK riders that I wish I could bring to the USA.
They would do better on tracks like Southpark and at the trails.
