Just got a call from Tasha Smith. She said that Fitz who may of you may know as the guy behind "Pedal Socks" had a bad wreck and is ungergoing surgery for a broken hip today. Tasha had to hang up quickly and that is all I know at this point please keep Fitz, Tasha, and the kids in your thoughts and prayers!

Hell of a man. I met him and his girls at Oldsmar this year. Hate to see a rider down, but if I know Fitz he will be back up soon. Will have a lot of time on his hands and will come up with something new for the BMX crew. Get well soon, our prayers are with you and the family

From what I hear he made the paramedics carry him and the bike across the finish line hahaha. No DNF for Fitzgerald.

Tasha called and said he is out of surgery and resting comfortably. Tasha and the kids are headed home tonight because of school and Fitz will come back here as soon as he is released. Tasha is trying to figure out how to get him back here easily.

I have been out of the loop for a bit & just heard about "Fitz". A great guy and fun to be around him, Tasha & the kids. I wish a speedy and complete recovery. Hope to see them all soon.

Your kind words, thoughts and prayers are deeply felt and appreciated.

My hip was broken in three places, but I am recovering well. Although the doctor did not fulfill my request for a Hi-Tech Bionic leg, with a built in weapons locker (Robo-Cop) and a booster pack (for setting recording land speeds). He did provide me with a small hardware store of a titanium rod, a bolt, and 3 stainless steel screws.

With Gods grace, I hope to be back in the saddle by November.
