Pompano BMX Track, A glimpse of what is left of it

I have attached a picture of what is left of the old pompano BMX track. Wish it was still there because it was alot of fun racing there and no reason why it souldnt be revived. Take a loook at the attached pic I have attached. You can still see the outline of the track wich is still there but just over grown with grass and weeds. its ashamed.

I used to love going there!! I remember one time the cops used tear gas and it had drifted towards the track. People were putting on goggles to try keep the gas out of the eyes.

I'm pretty sure I raced there a couple of times. It was far for us and I never got enough practice time to learn the track. Got beat bad.

Never made it to Florida to race. Though I did stay with Grant Beck for a couple days in 81 while he was at FSU.
If I were to go to Pompano now I would would look for that and ride it , even with the grass just the way I would walk the field of say Veterans Stadium if it was still there.

Were the tennis courts there when it ran? I can see that from keeping the race track closed.

My memories of Pompano was having Todd Kersey beat me because I couldnt master making that last double. Ugh!
