ODI Lock-ons, air compressor, or starting fluid grip goes on easy and dries right away.

"PAGING DANA DUKE!"

Man, to watch that guy change a set of Oakley IIs on Stu's Bike at the St. Louis ABA DG Nationals at Plantation Raceway was a lifechanging experience.

Where us groms would wrestle with it and need to leave it sit for a half a day just to be sure we would not be doing an impromptu one hander, he had those grips off, bars cleaned and back on in time for Stu to confidently race the Pro Main less than 10 mins after.

Come on Duke! Enlighten us for old times' sake!

Best,

M

I run ODI lock-ons. But before I them I used a air compressor. It works great and no waiting a hour or two. Soon as they are on the bars they are ready to ride....

Zippo lighter fluid is the best for metal bars. Don't know about carbon bars.
Run a little stream down the inside, turn the grip around then slam it on as fast as you can. Will be locked on tight in less than a minute. I have put a grip on a bike on the hill behind the gate and it was good to go the next moto.

As I said, I like the ODI's but Groms don't. The mini's are just too big of a diameter.

What about Glue, Epoxy, or that Grip Stick stuff on Carbon Bars???

Thanks everyone!

I have installed countless numbers of grips in my time, and to date the best way off is a long allen and some windex, shove the allen wrench under the grip, spray in some windex, twist and pull. They are off with no stress, and while they are off use the windex to clean the bar and prep for the new grip. to install get a can of either 3m or duro spray adhesive, spray a shot into the grip squeeze the grip together to get it evenly distributed inside the grip and slide it on quickly (do not take your time on this step because it sets up very fast) the grip is on and ready to race in a matter of minutes and even if you carry your bike on a rack in the rain they will not get throttle grippy on ya, to remove them just go back to the allen and windex again. Been using this method for over 10 years on hundreds of bikes (seriously) and have never had any issues.

I would not have believed it, but Metroplex bikes in DeSoto changed out my sons grips right before a moto. It worked and they are tight as a drum in just a couple of minutes.

Put hairspray on the grip and bar, slide it on, blow in end of grip with air hose and you have instant bond.
