Wasn't Hobby Park in WS also a track?

I have a box with the entire history of Tanglewood! Some cool stuff in there.

Yeah KING BMX moved to Hobby Park 82-84 (edit list). Tanglewood was originaly going to be up near the horse stables, the parents assoc. had to go through alot to get that track.

You came all the way from FL to race that track?? That was the second King track(of 3), just raced there the spring/early summer of 81. How did you like that first turn?? lol, then up hill to last straight.

if my memory is correct, the first straight bent slightly on a gradual downhill over a mellow roller into a flat first turn. then down the second straight over a big roller then into a 180 berm then the rest is a bit foggy...i'm sure you could fill in the rest. our manager always took us to upstart places like that. we ended up driving to indy in '80 and '81.

It was right behind my folks house. The motorcycle track was called Meadowbrook. What team were you on?

I raced Burlington indoor a few times in the early 80's. I remember how sore those wooded "jumps" would make me the next day. Good times for sure and some fun road trips from Hampton. Also remember racing Fayetville and one other track. Probably Winston Salem, because I can remember riding bikes through the city. Some guy gave me a jersey at one from his bike shop called "The Bike Shop". Love the simple name.

Hiatt, great post! Do you have photos of King BMX or Hobby? I grew up in King, but didn't start racing until '87 at Tanglewood. I believe I have also heard of a track being in Pinnacle, NC a long time ago.
