We all had a Guy/Gal from our Local track or State who made his or her way onto a Factory Team, had a Low National Number, picture in a Magazine, so who were the most prominent racers from your area BITD,

I'm From Kentucky we have a ton of Througobred race Horses who are famous but very few BMX's but here are a few guys who had factory rides and Low national Numbers,

Greg Beller from Owenboro Ky Factory Profile BITD and I Believe National # 3 in 1982
Tony Nurse I'm not sure if he was from Henderson or Owensboro, Had a National #
Paul Nichols From Madisonville Ky, Factory Vector He could fly on a Cruiser, had a Low National #
Mike Lausman, Rode for Whitmans out of Ohio and then Factory Free Agent Briefly in 1986 National #3 in 1985
we had a few other guys who were pretty fast and ended up doing pretty well at nationals,
Freddy Hooper From Owensboro, Did very well back in 1980 81 82
Brad Saylor

These are the guys I remember from KY, If you remember anyone else list em

Name some guys from your Hometown or your State unless you are from California, then you can probably name 10 guys who lived on your street,

I'm from St. Louis, MO. We had a bunch of guys from here with factory sponsors, a bunch of number 1s and top ten riders as well...

Tim Kikaraus- Vector / Freshour- top ten amateur for several years
Travis McGhee- Vector / Coastal- made the last terrible ten in BMXA, top ten on 20 and 24"
Ryk Roth- Free Agent- B Pro originally from Downey, CA
Derek Fink- Coastal- Top ten or so 17x, 18x
Dru Potts- Freshour- top 15 once or twice, maybe 16 or 17x
John Piant- DG / Huffy- I think everyone that thinks of St. Louis thinks of this guy. He did a lot.
Paul Gossrau- Jag / Raleigh (?) Nat'l #1 a couple of times against guys like Ellis, Williams, Johle, Leone, etc.
Mike Goeddy- GT- Nat'l #1
Steve Moore- GT- Nat'l #1
Jim Wallace- Torker- Nat'l #1 cruiser
John Baker- RRS- Nat'l #1
Kevin Conrad- Kuwahara- fast little guy. his head would shake "no" all the way around the track. crazy to watch.
Bob Hunt- Torker
Owen Dowdy (I forget who he rode for)
Marty Luker- Traker- I'm not sure if Luker ever got a number 1 but he was really fast. He was going up against Loncarevich and that class, back when Loncarevich was on Diamond Back. I guess that would have been 15 and 16x.
Matt Guinn- MCS
Margo Carroll (Panda?)
Jenny Zeuner (lived here in the late 80's, now in Colorado)

I know I'm missing some of the guys from the early 80s but that should be a pretty good list. I'm pretty sure one year Moore, Goeddy, Baker, Wallace, and I think Gossrau were all NBL number 1 at the same time.

Also from Owensboro Joey were:
John Hayden: Got on the Cook Bros. Factory Team
Chad Cornelius: Factory Hutch
Uh, Cody Weakleys sister: Factory Hutch also I believe
Dean Howard: Factory Harris Cycle Shop (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sarcastic_hand.gif) (ok, just a local bike shop)
Tony Nurse: He WAS from Owensboro. He went to California for a year to be on the Jag Team in I think 1979

There's a ton more...I'm having brain fade at the moment. Chime in South Florida guys.
