Other than weight, what are some advantages of caron forks over traditional chromo? Thanks

When you put a pair of carbon forks on the Team USA WalMart bike it launches out of the gate like Jeff Dein busting through the door of the nearest buffet after Sunday's mains BITD!

Due to the weight, it may be easier to manual for some people. But we are talking a few ounces only, so unless you have the expendable cash on hand, Is it really worth the cash outlay?
