I have a friend that's thinking of selling his 84 Cycle Pro Greg Hill, looks to be in pretty good shape and he said it's rust free. Can anybody give me an idea of what's a fair asking price for this? Here it is, let me know and I'll post it up for sale in a few days.
Thanks
Jason

ha, lately new members have been asking price questions as one of their first posts.
it's taboo around here as this site is about discussing bikes, etc.

there is a for sale section where you can post it as a best offer, if you like.

by the way, welcome to the site and very cool bike.
Greg Hill stuff gets pricey so I'm sure your friend won't be disappointed.

If you look at the top of the page, there is a pinned post called "what's my bike worth". You should read that.

Simply put, a bike is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. There is no NADA book for bikes. Ebay is your best best to let the market decide.

"Jewel of the Nile" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) you'll fit in well here with good sence of humor and a relitively thick skin.

oh, by the way, Greg Hill himself stops by here on occasion.

that's the day the owner MC makes us dress up in business casual and we speak in old english to commemorate the occasion.
Ye will know henceforth....

Cycle Pro made those under license from GHP as part of their distribution deal (GHP through Cycle Pro).

That was their top of the line model and came as a complete bike.
That one has had a few changes to the components.

Non-US made.
Essentially the frame is the same as a US-made GHP and the forks are Tange ARX.
The bars are identical copies of GHP Star Bars but not US-made.

What's it worth?
Not as much as a US-made GHP.

I don't know, it looks like one of those old dirt track bicycles.
Shouldn't be worth much. Brand new ones are about 80 bucks at the store.

Well his head is out of the clouds now, I should be picking it up from him this weekend. I'll get whatever measurements you guys want and what should I look for to better describe this bike? I am not too familiar with the BMX side, I was more of a freestyle guy.

there you go, sounds like you have a nice entrance back into the hobby.

they are teasing about the measurements. it was a GHP joke from a doomed freestyle thread.

Since you are beyond the monetary value it lets you think about the things we talk about around here:

Do you keep it as is, survivor?
do you clean it up and ride it?
do you part it out and sell on ebay so you can buy a freestyle bike?
do you research a catalog pic of the original bike and return it to stock?
etc.

I'd start by sending a polite message to Greg Hill and ask if he might happen to have a scan of the original complete bike.

good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
