Shipping cost Options

Hey guys, sorry for this question but being out of the loop for so long I was wondering what the general rates are for shipping the complete bikes. I don't want to break them down yet and keep lugging them back and forth to the post office. So here is the questions if anyone can help out with a ballpark figure. It doesn't have to be exact:

Complete bike shipped coast to coast in the States?
Frame and fork shipped coast to coast in the States?

Complete bike shipped to Europe from the States?
Frame and fork shipped to Europe from the States?

Complete bike shipped to Australia from the States? - One guy said he gets charged between $180-$200 U.S.
frame and fork shipped to Australia from the States?

Any recent experiences you can help me out with would be fine. Alot of guys and maybe some are you, are asking shipping questions. If I get some feedback I will go post the rates on my auctions.

As said before, just a good honest ballpark number.

you can calculate shipping anywhere in the world. just need destination zipcodes.
might as well sign up for an account while you are at it because usps priority mail is going to be your best friend in the hobby.

It's all good. There is enough volume out for all the carriers.

i don't think i have the box still, but about a year ago i got my fit s3 frame, profile mini hubs, a fly u-brake and some other smallish parts from the usa. usps shipping to germany was between $80 and $100, i think. maybe closer to $80.

about 3 years ago, i got a standard 125r frame, standard race forks and one of the older standard stems. shipping was even less than $60.

best thing you could do would be to ask the guys over at empire bmx. they should know about the current rates. and how to post stuff.

My best bet has been the two major sites. Both USPS and UPS websites
can give you a quote with just a little input. Type in the from-and-to,
give a good estimate on the weight, and bang, you get the quote.

So far I've used both with perfect results. Keep in mind a 30 lb bike
can push 40lbs with the box and packing materials.

Here's a quote for ya, 35lb bike box from middle America to Singapore:
$175 USPS.

Just recently shipped a couple frame sized boxes....

UPS Michigan to Reno $38!!!

Fedex Michigan to Virginia $11.

My experience Fedex is 1/2 the price and way more convenient because the Fedex/Kinkos by me is open 24 hours. Plus the nice guy working there let me use all the packing tape I needed for free. Sorry Brown but you have gone the way of Dale Jarrett in Nascar....done.

It all depends on the size of the box. I haven't shipped a full bike in about a year and a half, but the BMX bike boxes are just about at the limit size wise. I have gotten the bike boxes from my LBS that BMX bikes come in. I have packed a bike and taken it to the local USPS and have been upcharged about $35 for size, only to take it to another USPS office and have it go through normal parcel costs. From Indianapolis to LA cost me $29 and from Indy to Seattle area was $32. I would think coast to coast if in regular parcel category would be under $50.

Whatever you do, don't take it to a packing place. Man, they will get you from every angle and going across the street will cost over $100. I had a fragile picture that I sent and had them wrap and pack, etc. and it cost me $62. It only weiged 10 pounds and was not odd shaped either.

I've had a number of complete's shipped USPS Global Express from the USA to Australia for $180USD, however it is necessary to ship in two cartons, frame and fork and a few bits in one, and the rest in the other.

A frame and forks is approximately $80-$90 for the same method. This includes tracking. Hope this helps.
